Hi everyone, I'm Pysgodyn (he/him), and the webmaster of a site of the same name... Pysgodyn! 

I'm an artist and I also really like music and comics (especially Batman...). I started getting into web revival at the start of this year after stumbling upon a Neocities site and thinking "I wanna do that!!", leading me to find MelonLand... Hoping to make some friends here and learn some more about developing my website because it's still very much in its infancy right now.

I've never actually contributed to a classic forum like this before so apologies if I mess anything up or break any etiquette.

Hello Pysgodyn ! Welcome to the forum !

I'm super happy to see a comic-book fan around ! So many topics I'd like to speak about ! Unfortunately I'm sorta allergic to Batman mostly due to the fanbase and writing that often gives stories where Batman manages to escape/win/survive/etc because... "he's batman". And seeing those people going full nerds "But Batman can take on the Justice League ez pz, he's Batman !" it's really frustrating because endorsing a character winning because he just is, that's not my cup o' tea.

So, convince me, gimme a good Batman story that can change my view on the character. I like to be challenged ! All I've read from DC is "Gotham by Gaslight", "Red Son" and "Flashpoint". I loved all three and Gotham by Gaslight was really a nice take on Batsy.

I completely respect the Batman allergy because for years I also used to hate superheroes in general! I actually became a fan through the movies and video games at first despite always being a comic fan because in my mind I thought there could be nothing more boring than a superhero comic... which is funny because that seems to be all I read lately XD

I'm actually not too big on Justice League stuff, my favourite Batman comics tend to be super random one-shots or short series. Probably a cliche recommendation but Batman Year One is a great comic about him starting as a hero in Gotham. I really think it's a great read to get you started on Batman stuff though if you end up enjoying it. My current favourite series of Batman comics is Batman '89. It's meant to be a sort of sequel to the 1989 Batman movie so if you haven't read that it might not make too much sense but I feel like it can be done by reading the plot of it on its wiki page or something. That comic does a great job fleshing out Batman and Robin's relationship and is one of my favourite TwoFace origin stories. In general with Batman media, I'm more of a Riddler guy so if you ever wanted to read a comic about him I recommend Detective Comics Annual Vol 1 8 which is my favourite one-shot! It's also an origin story and doesn't really have much Batman at all (which might be a good thing for you if you aren't too much of a fan of him XD).

I've only seen the Gotham by Gaslight movie which is probably totally sinful to fans of its comics... So many comics to be read though, I need a lot of time to catch up with them all

I'm super curious about what comics you're into yourself!

Croeso Pysgodyn! Whereabouts in Wales are you? I live near Aberystwyth. I'm not Welsh though, I'm a Geordie.

I used to read Batman comics in the 60's as a small child. My parents let me read everything; Batman, Superman, Supergirl, X Men, you name it, I read it! These days my husband reads 2000AD (I do sometimes) and I read Quantum. That's a UK anthology comic.

Siwmae, Eunice! Funny enough, I actually have a friend studying in Aberystwyth right now. I'm originally from the valleys, but I've been living in Cardiff for the past few years for University. I think I prefer it over here in the city though, it feels like there are a lot more opportunities to do stuff 

I'm pretty new to superhero comics honestly, I started getting into them around a year ago but before that I was really into any comics with zombies, I have a huge stack of The Walking Dead volumes. The first comics (or I guess manga) I ever read was the Pokemon Special series when I was a kid.

Those comics you mention sound interesting based on the quick search I did on them. I'll have to let you know if I check them out!
