Hello everyone!!! I made my account for the forum a few months ago but kept putting off posting anything because I wanted my website to be, IDK, more complete, more presentable, etc. etc. etc... But I gotta stop letting the perfect be the enemy of the good!! I've been really interested in what I've seen on the forum so far, so I figured I could introduce myself and jump right in :)
I'm Sam or Sammy or Mars, and I'm the webmaster over at
The Squirmzone, a personal site meant mostly just to share things I've made and find interesting or important (though there is much more of the former than the latter at the moment). I'm a trans girl with an avid interest in world history, horror of all kinds but especially horror films and writing, old school roleplaying games (I actually ALSO have an old school RPG blog,
Save vs. Worm), biology (especially evolutionary biology, entomology, herpetology), and communism. Over on my site you can read
a bunch of stories I've written (which I want to go share over in the subforum for writing, after I finish introducing myself here!!) as well as
a few horror movie reviews (which I really need to finish), some original art (drawings and
digital photocollages), and a few

I really love the vibes and ethos of the various "small web", "indie web", "yesterweb" (RIP), etc. movements that have emerged in the past few years, and while I'm... not the best at coding, it's a good way for me to try and not do what I call "tidepooling," where I only share art and writing I've made with my immediate friends. I'm also just honestly more used to many "older" web design principles that are usually discouraged today; I just find text-heavy, vertical-designed sites, sites of links with nice big visual buttons and sidebars to navigate, so much better than the slick, locked behind accounts and paywalls stuff that preponderates today. So it's good to bring those together, make the kind of website I like to navigate, to share what I make and care about (albeit kinda slowlyyy since I end up getting busy and taking long gaps between updates) in a website thats entirely bespoke and personally-designed :3
