What are your fav nostalgic games/abandonware?

Hi all !!   
I recently did another deep dive into the world of abandonware. This led me to go dust off all the old games I used to play as a kid!

I would love to hear what games you guys used to play back in the day, which ones you remember most fondly, and if you still play any of them!

My all time favourite is Spore (2008)! But I also love these:
The Simpsons Game (Loved the multiplayer! Many hours spent with my brother on the couch playing together)
The Simpsons: Hit and Run
Shrek 2 (2004)
Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Ratatouille (2007)
Honorable mention: This Swedish/finnish point-and-click deserted-island survival game, Robinson (2000), that my mom got from a clothing store! Very charming little game.

I'll probably make another post about digipets, considered cramming it in here, but I feel they deserve their own post. Cheers!

I spent a lot of time growing up playing edutainment games that are probably considered abandonware by now. I was particularly interested in geography, history, and natural sciences (as I still am, I'm a wildlife studies major and have a huuuuge amateur interest in history), so games which focused on those are super nostalgic to me. off the top of my head I can distinctly remember:

• where in the world is carmen sandiego (and its many spinoffs, I played both the DOS original through an emulator my mother found for me and several of the later games) (I also have a huge fondness for the cartoon and the PBS gameshow)
• cluefinders
• the yukon trail (I played the original oregon trail game and a couple of the other spinoffs, but this one is the most distinct in my memory)
• time riders in american history
• the secret island of dr. quandary (this one is a real oddity. LGR has a great review of it)
• pajama sam games and freddi fish games (these definitely started my intense love of point and click adventures... thrift store CD-ROMs my beloved)

There was a small Finnish collective (probably a bunch of teenagers) that created early, non-commercial indie games with the Klik-Engine.

Quality varied heavily, but one game was a very unique puzzle-strategy mixture, named "SIEGE!!". It featured several original characters to play (no BG-Story or anything, it stayed a mystery), a rather smashing OST, and - at least if you played against a human opponent - a deep, good gameplay.

They don't make it like this anymore. There was a video available at the tube, but now I can only find the main intro; but just look at the animations even included there, and the overall production quality - its crazy:

Can be downloaded at the archive. I was able to play it using WINE a few years ago.

Another great FINGAME is Taso. Similar story. Dev is now a professor for maths, and was probably a boy when he made it. Set up a homepage for his old game 12 years ago, but it is orphaned again. Also surprisingly good - played it for hours over hours back then:

It's cool that this topic has come up, cause I've recently got into abandonware via SH2! Silent Hill 2 is very well-known as a game, but despite its notoriety, not a lot of people realize that playing the original game is nearly impossible without emulation--unless you already had a copy when it was in "print" (does that word apply to games?). Either way, since I never had any playstation consoles growing up, I had to download the preserved game files and run them with a mod to convince my computer that the CD/ROM drive wasn't empty. It took some time to figure out, but it runs as smoothly as my computer is physically capable of. The mod fixed some things that were missing from the original PC port as well. I'm very satisfied with the outcome so far.

I think one of the coolest things about it is that I can see the dev's files in my computer... it feels like archaeology to read through!
