I haven't been to the cinema for at least five years. The last film I saw at the cinema was One Battle After Another, and it was a blast. It was great fun to watch a film that had been made for the big screen, and it's a real shame that I don't go to the cinema more often.

Once upon a time, I used to watch at least one film in the cinema every week and rent a DVD once or twice a week from the local video rental shop. Streaming and TV shows were a big thing, but in the end I was oversaturated, and at the moment I don't watch movies or TV shows at all. I miss the good old times.

Hoppers. I work at my local movie theater, so I was able to watch it with my family for free lol.

EDIT April: Watched the new Mario movie on Thursday night.

Marty Supreme! Our local cinema has a monthly cinema club event where we do a screening of a heavily accolated film. It was my second time seeing it actually, but I'm the one who chooses and selects movies for the club, so it was heavily expected for me to be there.

The last movie I saw in the cinema was Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse in summer of 2023. I was in Vietnam visiting extended family when my sister wanted to watch Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse. We went to the cinema in Landmark 81 SkyView and it was a pretty good movie.

My friend took me to see Project Hail Mary in an IMAX theater, and it OBLITERATED me. Oh my lord, we can stop making movies now. We've made the best one. The only reason she wasn't as much of a wreck... was that it was her fourth time seeing the thing! I think she went six times in all

I saw I Love Boosters recently, and it was o lot of fun. It's basically an anti-capitalist live action cartoon, which is really exciting since the last time we got something like that on a large scale (that us coming to mind for me right now) was like Speed Racer in the 2000s. This is pretty different from that, but it has a lot of it's own fun style and great comedy and visual gags. There's also great performances. Keke Palmer is great as the lead, she manages to deliver the frustration of living in a capitalist society while also being funny really well. There's also a ton of other smaller roles which are all fantastic, my favorite being LaKeith Stanfeild, who I can't say anything about, but it was always great when he was on screen. I've been meaning to see Sorry to Bother You, the movie Boots Riley made before this, for a long time, and this just gave me much more incentive to do so. I would definitely recommend watching this if you can.

I went to see Flow.. over a year ago? It came to my rural middle of nowhere area in the spring last year. I used to go watch something several times a year. I'm trying to think if I've been to the cinema since then, but all the movies I've gone to see this decade came out earlier.

Anyway. It was great, I highly recommend. It's a Latvian indie movie made by a small team. No language knowledge required. Only animals in the movie. They got a real cat to do the voice for the cat. I'm used to Hollywood tropes, but Flow was unpredictable for me. I was so absorbed that I didn't notice time passing.

I saw project hail mary a week or two ago! it was super good. cried like 4-5 times. i get really emotional when i think about the vastness of space and how there's probably people on other planets living their lives and stuff.

like @sloth_army1 i recently took to the cinema to see i love boosters!! and had a freaking BLAST!!! it's so goofy and colourful and also very clearly and cleverly anticapitalist, so like, genuinely, what's not to love? i've also had the main theme stuck in my head pretty much since i left the theatre.
