i don't go to the movies as much as i'd like to (both a tad expensive and not much that appeals to me lately), so the last movie i saw in theatres was a quiet place: day one. i don't really enjoy most horror films and can be extremely hard to please; i tend to only watch psychological horror, but i'd be lying if i said i didn't have a soft spot for (post-)apocalyptic settings. admittedly, i was kind of late to the a quiet place train, but i really, really love the first one. the second one wasn't bad; it didn't quite grab me the way the first one did, but it's something i wouldn't mind watching again. as for a quiet place: day one? i actually enjoyed this more than i expected to. it definitely wasn't perfect - i suppose i can't really fault it, though, since things were likely halted for a bit due to the writer's strike - but it was still a decent watch. the developing friendship between sam and eric is something i thought was done really well, but of course, frodo the cat steals the show! i also really enjoyed the part where sam and eric are in harlem. i think the last movie i saw in theatres prior to that - or at least, the last one i remember - was five nights at freddy's. i went with a friend since she came back home for the holidays, and this one did not disappoint. even though i'd just watched it on streaming for the first time about a week prior, it didn't matter. the thrill and fun of everything was still there, and we had a blast! i don't care what any of the critic film snob nerds say - this movie was so much fun and i can't wait for five nights at freddy's 2 later this year
