I'm kinda surprised i haven't seen a thread like this but I'm curious, what kind of DE/WM do you use and why? :omg:
I personally am just using KDE plasma on my laptop and plan on using Plasma once I switch my pc to Linux as well. I'm using plasma because i like customization but i currently dont have the desire to learn how to customize window managers :drat: . however when/if i decide to try one again, i'll likely try out riverwm. :ok:
i also use plasma because of their extensive and pretty vast settings options in their system settings. to me the amount of settings it has are perfect and i like having options in that way more then not having them. :ozwomp:

I am also currently using KDE Plasma (on arch btw  ), I just really like the way it looks and more importantly how it functions, I have a multiple monitor setup and from all of my testing I liked plasma the most, it just fit in the best with how I use my computer, plus it is pretty customizable so every once in a while I change up the look of my workspace while still keeping a similar feel.
But before switching to multiple monitors I was rocking i3wm (before wayland was fit for daily use) and really liked it as well, but it just didn't feel right on multiple monitors no matter what I've tried. And on laptops/all-in-ones I tend to prefer Gnome, again it just feels right, don't know why.

I have never heard of riverwm so I'll have to check it out

XFCE4, good balance of features and not having that much bloat.

Can also third Plasma. It, alongside Cinnamon, has the most extensive customization of any Linux desktop environment out there. In fact, I kind of want to theme Plasma to look like Aqua era Mac OS X! If I want something lighter, I can also vouch for XFCE as a stable, customizable option. (Used to like MATE, but I'm not sure how much development that's getting nowadays. And Enlightnment, while cool and has a lot of potential for crazy setups, does seem a little unstable.) I'm also curious to see where the COSMIC desktop goes; while in early development, it's showing a lot of promise, IMO.

im curious about that as well, I haven't looked for any news for it in a while and am probably gonna try it on arch. hopefully it works well.

(on arch btw  )
hah same... kinda. I'm using fedora on my laptop atm but am considering going back to my one true love, arch.

I use a couple, on my Tower I use KDE Plasma 6 since its release, prior to that I used GNOME as it was a bit more stable for the things I was doing at the time. And on my Laptop I usually use WMs, primarily Hyprland, but I have been testing Comsic out since Alpha 4 and while Inefficient and Buggy (Alpha things) It is showing a lot of Promise, especially the Tiling mode which is a must for my Laptop.

My Systems currently runs NixOS, but how I know myself that will change sooner than later.

I personally use GNOME, I feel right at home on it and it just works. The thing I like about it is that it gets out of the way and lets you just use the computer.

I have tried WMs and while I can use them, they just don't feel quite right. And this is coming from someone that uses vim full time.
