Heya and also happy new year!! :transport:

I'm new to this forum, so I wanted to introduce myself a little! You can call me snow and use any pronouns for me! (I just think languages are really interesting!!)

I discovered web crafting and the web revival movement on pure accident a few months ago while bored at work! (by stumbling onto this forum specifically actually! what can I say, the cat gifs and eye-catching designs enthralled me )
:dive:

And now I'm here!! With probably less than realistic fantasies of my own website, since I've picked up incredibly basic html only yesterday... (so, last year haha)
Although I am already fascinated and playing around with everything!! (I'm trying to make it about a topic dear to my heart, mushrooms!!)

Before this I've liked doing lots of other creative hobbies as well, like drawing, writing, dnd and 3d modeling but this one is extra fun!!!
You'll probably hear from me again the next time my entire code breaks because I forgot a "<"  and I stare at it for half an hour trying to figure out why there is suddenly math on my screen where there shouldn't be... (that happens to everyone, right? haha)

My mission on this forum is to feed every tamanotchi/virtual pet I see!!

happy new years and welcome to the forum!

additionally, welcome to the wacky world of web crafting x3. i was pretty new to html when i started my site too (besides deviantart custom boxes, if you know you know). i'm still learning something new basically every time i continue to work on my pages!
i've also forgotten plenty of "<"s and way more than enough quotation marks. :ha:

i must now ask, whats your favorite mushroom?
i have an irrational fear of them in person, but i've grown a fondness for them at a distance (usually through photography).

Happy New Year and welcome to the MelonLand forums! I like terana caerulea, the cobalt crust fungus, because the blues and purples are so pretty. <3

Syntax errors are pretty troublesome! What kind of text editor are you using? You might want to give Phoenix Code a try, it's very easy to use and features a live website previewer, so you can immediately see how changes affect your site.

Again, welcome!  :unite:

Happy new year and welcome to the forums! Don't worry, everyone's site is as simplistic as it can be when starting out. Think of your page as a constantly evolving house on which you'll add and change things as you'll learn more. First it looks like a tent, it'll end up like a mansion x3

Drawing, writing and modelling are also very interesting topics to add to your webpage, I'm very curious to see what you can come up with!

first of all thanks for the warm welcome!  :4u:
I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one here that doesn't have like 10 years of making websites yet  :ok:
I mean, even still, you never stop learning! That's the magic of art haha

oh and what a hard question! I'll try my best to answer it... oh and before I do that, mushroom photography is really cool! have you seen those videos of mushrooms releasing their spores in the wind? they look so magical!

now, a very basic (but still great!) one are inkcaps! the whole process of them decaying into ink and slowly turning the white mushrooms black is so cool looking! the shaggy inkcaps are also edible (when young) and grow close to me so I've had the pleasure of cooking with them :D
they're also a 'king' card in the mushroom carddeck we play with at work, so it's pretty good to pull one!

but if asked outloud in a conversation? I'd definetly answer Aleurodiscus disciformis! Not because of their appearance or the fact they grow on dead oaks but because their name in german is really fun to say! they're called "schüsselförmige mehlscheiben" (bowl-formed flour-discs) and that just perfectly sums up the wacky naming schemes of mushrooms! :cheerR:

thank you  :4u:
I think crust mushrooms often get overlooked! They come in so many different varieties and pretty colours... I just checked out terana caerulea and they are beautiful! I can understand why you like them!
(And now I know what probably grew on the dead log in front of my house last fall!)

oh I haven't heard of that one yet! I'll definetly check it out! before I was only using my laptop's notepad, obsessively refreshing the page and then getting lost in all the open tabs haha... a live website previewer sounds lovely, especially as I add more than just a welcome text and cat ascii art, thanks for the recommendation :dive:

and what a nice way of looking at it! I guess for now I'll be dreaming of the mansion while trying to get the sticks to hold up the roof! :cheerR:

oh yeah, I love scrolling through art pages while surfing, they're one of the most interesting parts of the web!
I haven't been actively sharing most of the things I create for years now, so maybe the website will finally give me a reason to actually save my projects instead of just keeping them in the program limbo forever... and finally having some kind of organisation to my chaos of ideas couldn't hurt either  :dive:

@snow_44 Wow, Aleurodiscus disciformis really does look like dough someone left on the counter! And you've gotten to eat local inkcaps? <3 That's wonderful. Here in Minnesota, the most sought-after mushroom are the morels (Morchella). Foraging is a past-time here, even in urbanised areas like the Twin Cities, where I reside, as Nature is so abundant and accessible in the state.

Haha, I should've led my greeting to you with my 2025 calendar. Have a look.  :dot:

@snow_44
i have seen those videos, little snow storms xD. mushrooms also happen to be one of my favorite toppings for food, but i don't think i'm eating those haha. foraging is also something i find really cool but i'd definitely be too intimidated to go out and do it myself.
i also went ahead and searched up pictures of the mushrooms you listed! the shaggy inkcaps are so cute, they kind of remind me of a hat. :ha:

That's also super awesome, having nature accesible even in urbanized areas is really important! Morels are also popular to forage where I live, although you can only forage a very small amount for yourself because of nature conservatory reasons!

Very luckily I have the fortune of working with a person who knows everything about mushrooms (and nature in general) and said he'd go out to forage with me and my coworker when the time/weather is right :cheerR:

From him I even learned that the trumpet of the dead Craterellus cornucopioides is edible and apparently good in noodle sauces! I never would've guessed from their name!  :eyes:

Haha, I should've led my greeting to you with my 2025 calendar. Have a look.  :dot:
Oh, fabulous fungi facts indeed! What a cool calender! All of the pictures are quite beautiful; There's such a nice variety of mushrooms! And is that a cobalt crust fungus I spy haha?  :ha:
