Hello!

I've been working on a mockup for melonland, with ALL of my ideas stuffed into it!

I really am excited to share my own thoughts and feelings for the forum, and what amazing features that melon should add! BEFORE YOU VOTE, PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO AT LEAST SKIM THROUGH SOME OF MY IDEAS.

The weather



This mockup should tell you... well.. the weather! on the melonland forums!!

Now how can we make it special, you may ask? Well. You know how there is only two temperature units that we use natively! what if i told you that there is more then just... boring Fahrenheit or Celsius? Well, truth be told, that there is more then just TWO temperature units!



What if we were to tell the weather in Kelvin, Rankine, Rømer, Newton... and... more. Whats also interesting is that half, if not, MOST of these units are obsolete! just like beat time (ok not really, but you get the point)!!! :O



You should be able to change your preferred unit scale to whatever you want, and because there are unit scales that have more then one symbol, (for example Rankine has R, °R, °Ra)

and because kelvin doesn't even have a little "°" in its symbol, you should be able to change that as well.

If you do not want the weather shown on the homepage, no problem, you should be able to hide it if you want.

additionally, we should also develop our own temperature unit. Perhaps... beat temperature? 

Fortune Cookies!!

The news thingy on the top should show a random fortune cookie quote!

Don't worry, it'll show a random news thing sometimes, its just a little bit of a mixed bag! If you wanna make it show ONLY quotes, you should also adjust that as well (as always)



Status Changer!

This neat feature would allow you to conveniently change your online status. If you wanna stay offline, this menu allows you to do that.

You can also conveniently hide your online status from here, in case you don't want people seeing if you are online or not. You can do this in the Profile Settings, but this is more convenient.




Extras

Here is some extra ideas I had in mind, but i don't think its poll worthy.


MORE Player Stats

Player Count for Ozwomp Online, and Player Keeper Count for Worm Online! 



WAP and Mobile Layout in the floating icons



iMood in the top bar

I think the status changer idea is both fun and doable. I do think it is a bit redundant considering this place is meant for slow chatting - online status shouldn't matter. But I can also easily admit that I would totally use this whenever I have the website open. :P

I don't really know how I feel about a status feature. I guess at least 4 me, I don't know if I would have much use 4 it. I kind of like that you can look at the forum and honestly see who's online (forgetting whoever might be browsing logged off, X3!) I like walking into the room and sort of just... Knowing who's there. Then again, I probably just wouldn't use this feature myself, and I could see how it could be enjoyed.

Pretty neat and nice mockups. They really help you visualize the idea.

If there was going to be an online/offline status, why not just have a lot of different weird statuses, like moods, etc. It could be more expressive and possibly fill the role of a mood thing as well.

I agree that I'd like to seem more imood features, imood is very cool 

Here are some of the ideas I'm actively exploring atm:

• Guilds - People can create and join guilds, each guild has its own forum page, everyone site, and webring
• Activity hub - A place to see whenever an action occurs across any melonland site or sub-site (maybe this can tie into your idea for ozwomp online)
• Some sort of 3D everyone site expansion that lets people uploads objects and build spaces smoothly
• A suite of interactive-pan site features that let people add multiplayer things like cross-site gift giving to their sites
• Some sort of reaction system that does not horribly annoy me (could moods be reactions?)
• A redesign of the surf club with search and sorting features

Modern forums really do have you reaching for a react button.
I suppose they are good for acknowledging that a user did a good post.
But hesitancy about how they affect communication is understandable.

Wouldn't the weather gizmo be a bit awkward, given that we come from different parts of the world? I would like a "like" button for posts though.

It would ask for your location, which is an optional thing that is disabled by default.
