I've had a project going for a while now where I've been scanning in one of my completed art journals and arranging them into a 3D, walkable art gallery using the 3D Webspaces framework. It's taken a while, since I had like 70+ images that I had to scan, crop, edit, and then write some small commentary on, but I am mostly proud of the result. You can see it here:

https://www.thefrugalgamer.net/programming/journalExhibit/

There are some features of webspaces that it's not currently using--namely the chat function. This is meant to used in conjunction with Github so that you can allow the webserver to write back to the html file and update the chat messages, but I'm on the fence about whether or not I want to use it. Aside from the technical set up, I feel like I'd need to monitor the chat for the usual web trolls and etc, and I'm not sure I want to commit to that. Just about the only room in the exhibit I think it would really work would be in the reception room, so that might reduce the workload a bit, but I haven't decided yet. I've also considered just hacking the chat interface out entirely so that it doesn't get in the way (not sure how easy that would be).

Anyways, I'm not sure how suitable for art galleries the webspaces program is supposed to be, but I thought it was worth a try. If you have any feedback or thoughts about the project, I'd love to hear them, because I'm not sure if I'm okay with calling this one "done" yet, or if I should go back to the drawing board with it.

Either way, thanks for checking it out!

Only had a short strife through the orange room, but this is great!
From my experience, trolls and vandals are a rather small problem with such projects - I also had some reservations when making interactive things on my page, but didn't experienced any trolls till now (only a few bots in the WordPress-Comments).

This is a really nice gallery!  :ozwomp:  Re-feedback: It does not load in Safari (this might be a Javascript packing issue, I ran into similar things with past projects) - however it does work well in Firefox.

Re-design feedback, the world is really fun and I love the interaction effects! I would say that the artworks themselves are quite soft (because they are photographs) where as the digital world is quite bright and high contrast, so I felt like some of the artworks don't stand out enough. Thats kinda an unavoidable issue because scans of traditional art will can't match the intensity of digital colors; you could try tone matching the world to the artworks and it might balance it out (Im curious how this would look too!)

The artworks themselves were super cute and interesting to explore!

Overall even attempting something like this is super cool and I think you got really good results! I hope to see more projects like this  :eyes:

@ThunderPerfectWitchcraft Thank you for checking it out! That's a good point about the troll comments. I suppose I was a bit more hesitant because I was initially thinking of posting it to Itch.io, where it might get slightly more views, but even then, it wouldn't be at the top of the charts or anything.

@Melooon Thank you! I had noticed the issue with the photographs, and I think it's something to do with the shaders in the webspaces engine, because they are not quite that soft in the original .jpgs. I may be able to compensate by making them a bit overly saturated, so I'll have to experiment there. I think at least editing the pictures would be easier than messing with the shaders, which I've never done before.

This is so cool! I would've thought to be using something like a libreworlds/worlds.com client to access 3D web content, but the fact it just works in any browser is neat.

My biggest worry right now is does this take alot of ram or cpu usage to run, because if it does it's kind of a bummer.

Thank you! It seems mostly it takes a little while to pull down the images, though I've tried to squash them as much as I could. I don't think it takes a whole lot of RAM/CPU, because I worked on it on a laptop from work that I've had for a while. However, I do think on older PCs (more than 5 years) it might be a bit slow, so it is definitely not old-web friendly!
