Hi everyone, I've been blogging in HTML for my site's lifespan but I'm now looking for an alternative for the blog section of my Web site. I want something that I can use an external blog manager software/whatever for that automatically generates an archive and tag list instead of having to do all that myself - my current tag system and archive are precarious workarounds that are a pain in the butt, and I never really have time to go back and add posts to the archive anyway. I use a frameset for my site, so as long as I can have it in the content frame it should work! Does anyone have any recommendations?

Static site generators are really good at this kind of thing but they can be hard to figure out depending on what your background is with command line tools. But if you're not afraid of that it's not impossible to learn. The harest part is modifying the theme/html to match the layout you want. The simpler you want it to be the easier it is.

I use pelican and mkdocs, but I don't really recommend that unless you know python.

You could look at Eleventy (11ty) or Jekyll -- I think those are popular, more beginner friendly ones. There are so many of them, just explore "static site generators"

Maybe there are other users who would have a better idea what the best SSG for a beginner is.
