Natural Disasters

:mark: Caution: This topic covers some topics that might not be suitable with people who suffer from Lilapsophobia (Fear of Natural Disasters), Astraphobia (Fear of thunder and lightning), Ombrophobia (Fear of rain), Thanatophobia (Fear of Death) (don't worry, we don't talk about that here, i'm just putting this here to be safe), and Claustrophobia (Fear of tight spaces). Viewer discretion is advised.

Its a funny subject right; I think it depends how you do it, I cant guess what the discussion will be like before it happens.

I will throw one curve ball from the start, and that is to say that what we called a "disaster" is just normal activity for nature, it never asked to be a disaster, we just call it that when we don't like what its doing - so really a natural disaster is just a normal a day when nature reminds us that its actions were not made for our enjoyment

Natural Disasters. They can be scary, silly(?), fascinating, fun to watch(?), expensive, and/or painful. They are known as the act of god, sometimes there is nothing we can do about it, and just evacuate!  :omg:

Whether you like it or not, they happen at least once in our lives, and might've been a wake up call for everyone who was affected by such disasters.

One of the videos that fascinates me, or at least, scares me the most, takes place in a hotel (called Sans Luis Resort Hotel), that got hit by Hurricane Ike, which was formed on, September 1, 2008, and its winds were 145 miles per hour (230 km/h)

I will warn you. It makes some really horrifying wind noises.

Yikes! Don't even think about going outside!  :tnt:

It got so bad that the Galveston fire/rescue folks had to evacuate the upper floors. Kinda disturbing that the wind is trying to force itself to every crack, every hole, every pipe, every open area. :ohdear:

There are ways governments managed to keep people safe from such disasters. One of the many notable ways of doing this is alarming everyone that there is gonna be a disaster via Sirens, TV's, Radios, Phones & Tablets, and... Computers.

They are very, very scary, but enough to get the message through!

In some rare cases... they can be... uh. beautiful? there was one time when the sirens can harmonize in perfect harmony! :O

Now, What is the experience having a hurricane... in Walt Disney World?

Ohhhh dear.  :ohdear:

On August 30, 2017, A devastating, powerful, hurricane, called Hurricane Irma was formed. And it's winds were 180 miles per hour (or 285 km/h). and Disney was prepared. a lot of events were cancelled, doors were sealed, attractions were switched off early. There is also weather advisories blocking access to exit, of course the doors are sealed.

The stairs are soaking wet, and everyone needs to be careful, otherwise, you'll slip and fall. It doesn't help that walls were also soaking wet too. The elevator is also probably not an option too. Lights are flickering and so is the exit sign.

the rain is so strong that It actually managed to get on the camera lens, since the guy is recording all of this. Jeez!  :ohdear:

From what I learned from watching these videos, they remind me of the philosophy of "starting over", when natural disasters ruin a project that you made, you just gotta start over from scratch.

Anyways. I'll stop here. What are your experiences with Natural Disasters? and what are your backstories? Just remember to follow the rules before posting! and if you want, you can also reply with resources on tips on how you can stay safe from these egregious weather conditions!

wow... that's actually really fascinating (and terrifying)  :ozwomp:

i've been in a cyclone once, a couple floods, a bushfire, etc lol
it kinda gets less scary for me the more i'm in them, apparently.

also who else here likes storms and/or heavy rain too?
it makes me really calmed at times, and especially with all the lights off, everything's unplugged, and i'm just watching an anime on my laptop from my phone's cellular data as a hotspot, lol
