Lately I've dabbled a little into watching true crime videos. However, I'm really struggling to find quality videos on the topic!  The stuff I found on Youtube so far either sensationalizes the cases, or is poorly researched, or is disrespectful or tactless towards the victim and their family.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I like channels that lay down the facts in an objective manner with no sensationalizng the case. So far, Matt Orchard has been the only youtuber covering true crime that I've truly enjoyed watching. He covers the cases with all the due nuance, from what I've seen criticizes the police when it's needed, and often includes the victim's family's impact statements. But I've already seen all his videos on the cases I was interested in, and I'm struggling to find something as good.

I've tried a couple of the famous channels. Rotten Mango is too sensationalizing for me, and I think the host adds a lot of unnecessary details. Eleanor Neale does not research her videos well enough and they are full of innaccuracies.. this was especially evident to me when she covered the 2015 Smiler accident, as I'm really passionate about roller coasters and know a lot about that specific accident. I didn't mind JCS, but they do not post anymore, unless you count the weird AI slop they put out recently.

True crime is obviously a sensitive topic and it should be handled with tact and the due respect towards the victims and their families. It sucks seeing so much slop on youtube trying to profit from very tragic events

I'd reccomend watching videos by IDKSterling, dot, and Fascinating Horror.

Never seen Matt Orchad before! Thanks for introducing me!
As for recommendations, the only good one I know is Dire Trip. He goes in really deep into the lives of the people involved. Some videos being several hours long!

Yeah, and I’ve heard they even have AI “true crime” videos about completely fabricated stories, which defeats the entire purpose of true crime! :drat:
