When your a kid, you don't really pursue the concept of quality, you make whatever, you have a brilliant idea, but it comes out terrible and low-effort, but you don't realize that as a kid, you look at it as a masterpiece. But once you grow up and get older, you start to realize that your past artistic endeavors aged poorly, you realize that it wasn't as good as you though it was, it sucked, and you wish you could get rid of it. Back then, you had different agendas and opinion on how things should be done, what is the best ethical choice to make. But now you know better, there are better options, you better morals and what should be taught in life.

That is where I will get to today with post, you see, I have this wiki I made from Wiki Fandom. It's this wiki that was supposed to be made for a fangame project. But it wasn't even a game yet, I ended up scraping the project and wiki ended being used for fan pages. Later on during over time, the wiki has been filled with nothing but low-effort and slop content on the platform. Articles that are nonsense and don't take things literal or serious. They often don't take consideration for the subject matter of the project continuity. I even had rules laid out, but I don't even bother since the site has been slammed with slop so many times and pointless garbage wasting valuable resources on Wiki Fandoms database, and other wikis like my as a whole. All these people are more likely or not, children, unhealthy kids spending their hours on the screen doing whatever, and not worry that much on the possible damages their doing.

I already made a post about this, regarding my opinions and moral standpoint of the internet and society in the blog on the wiki. You should read before reading the rest of this forum post.

Quote
Hello members of the Five Nights at Nick's Wiki, I just want to make the unfortunate news that I plan to shut down this wiki. This wiki has been running for quite a while now, ever since I wanted to go further with the project of this game. But as time went on, the wiki became pointless due to information not being ended up becoming a actual game, making all wiki's information pretty much false and fake. That is also when I made the decision to just make the wiki a fanon one where people can just simply contribute their own ideas instead with OC characters and other fan ideas to the wiki.

I was fine with the wiki still running and every so often I would check to see on what is going on since I'm still the administrator in charge, but it was the same typical content on the platform. Overtime, I have matured as a person, meaning that I lost the value of fan content on fan wikis, and the ever so lack in any quality and consideration for many of the articles to be justified. You see, the whole fangame division of Five Nights at Freddy's in regards to my fangame and Fnati, is nothing but filled with clueless kids with no good talent, and is a ever so growing problem with the fandom and their considerable health on the internet.

The actual large amount of low-effort and slop content on this wiki and all fan wikis (fnati oc/rp wikis) is considerable saddening for the likely hood of the younger generation. Everyone's opinion is different, but in my sole honesty, children shouldn't be involved with the internet as a whole, they should be doing more meaningful things in their lifetime in the outside world, actually learning true inspiration and creativity. I also understand that you may questioning that I have done the same as kid like your age, and yes, I have, I am just as guilty in this department, but that doesn't mean I should encourage it to be the same for the newer generation of kids.

The reason I'm getting here, is that I am shutting down the wiki, not because I want to be a asshole, but I'm doing it for a good cause. I don't think Wiki Fandom should be a site that is wasting resources on content that is meaningless, instead of real information that wiki's are meant for, I also don't believe Wiki Fandom should give kids that much as a powerful privilege to make new entire wiki domains with a single click, this is something that should be limited to adults.

I understand that lot of you people who dedicated yourself to this wiki may be very upset for me making this decision, it's not because I'm being forced too, it's my own appropriate decision to set this wiki up for termination. I understand some of you may be angry, and you may not ever like me for doing this, you have a right for your own opinion on how you feel, just as long as you take this maturely.

Archive Now

That is why I am giving you with doubt, that I will be generous enough to be giving you some amount of time to archive any possible stuff on this wiki before it's deletion. One of the key things you should know with the internet, is that you never know when something goes missing on the internet, a image file, a page or video, anything. If you feel you like a certain close attachment for a piece of media existing on the internet, ARCHIVE IT.

For advice, you can right click on a any page and click "Save Page as". Anything in the page will be archived locally on your computer, including text information, formatting, and the images in the html itself.

I will officially be contacting Wiki Fandom on request to delete this wiki and hopefully getting a approval. If things all go well, '''this wiki will be deleted on June 20th, approximately in a week.''' If not at the exact moment, a little later.

That is where my over all lining on this subject matter is, should slop or low-effort content made by kids on the wiki (or the internet as a whole) be archive as something justifiable? Should I keep the wiki, I already made my announcement about it, but I recently had a debated argument with my irl friend on Telegram chat. Him believing that it's still artistic to some value, and let the kids enjoy themselves. But I'm just not sure if I can go with that belief, I had another person I talked to who I agreed with. And I maybe believe it was for the great good, as possibly these kids might grow up one day and look back it their old digital footprint as embarrassing. I already fear the inevitable when Gen Alphas and Gen Betas grow to become seniors(their 70's) one day and find their past childhood to be pioneer of their time. I could imagine us being to old for the newer century, and stuff like ElsaGate will be put on a pedestal in museum for generations to come. Whatever opinion or agenda, moral, will become irrelevant, are past fathers won't be remembered.

So that is when I decided I needed to ask a huge wide amount of people on this forum, who specializes in the web and it's declining health. Should this type of content should be ethical? Or is it unsanitary?

Okay. I read this thread like 9 hours ago and can't reread it at the moment as i'm freaking out about exams, but from what i remember reading...
Keep the wiki, children fucking around , believe it or not, is still valuable :) Just imagine if the wiki got archived and 200 years later, antropologists found out about it and wete like 'holyyy shit this is exactly what we wanted to see! something genuine! how the minds of children back then worked!' because like, even now, when old evidence of kids fucking around from like 100 years ago emerges it's valuable. them being children doesn't make it any less imlortant, no matter the objective quality of the content.... :)

like. god. i WISH i had some sort of archive of the stuff i got up to as a kid. at the age of 14, i was in a similar wavelength as you; i had all these notebooks full of drawings and stories i came up with when i was like 11 and, thinking it was trash, threw them all out. and now i wish i hadn't.....

hell, it hasnt been long since i finished highschool and im already so regretful of not archiving my writings and essays somewhere. i just wrote them on paper, handed them to the teacher, and they did whatever with them.... i even tried contacting old teachers of mine asking if they had any of my works and they didn't:(

anyways... in summary... don't delete the wiki. the content's worth it. those kids might even grow up and want to find their old stuff..... nyaaa

I think it's best to simply lock the wiki. There's no cost on your end to leave it online, and you would be deleting history of your own and other's writing, and on the canceled game itself. People may want to revisit these pages from time to time to see how much they've changed since the time they were in the FNaF fangame community. I don't really consider this wiki as "slop". There's merit to the passion alone, and I think these pages have some charm to them that's best kept preserved.

Honestly, really up to you. I still have doodles and full proud drawings from like, when I was in middle/high school around 2004 and beyond. I've tossed some things I didnt care for, some stuff I wish I kept, cringe or not. But like, if you like keeping it tidy and not horde slowly segregating papers and digital files. Also like, reason it took so long for a FF8 remaster and like, SEGA porting more than a small portion of their older games is because their master disks were lost or destroyed.
