I HATE TWITTER and chances are that you do too but for some insane reason every man, woman, child or they them who has ever had even an ounce of fame has a Twitter account and sometimes they have nothing else or only use the Twitter account for announcing important things

:skull: now this wouldn't be an issue for me except for the fact that you can't browse the site without making an account :skull:

I want to stay in the know about glass beach bc they are my favorite band but they for some reason only have a website YouTube channel, and Twitter account and you can imagine how much I miss out on by not following what they post there on Twitter

Also Pop Cap did a giveaway and I had no idea until it was already over!!!!!! Like that just makes me feel like I'm not as big of a fan of Plants vs Zombies as everyone else when Im not as informed about whats going on

This stuff just annoys me a lot and Im never making a Twitter account for anything, so is there any possible way to even view posts and things like that without an account?

fraidycat is also another good option, especially for sites that don't have rss feeds. there's an extension and a software version, but i have only used the former on both firefox and chromium.

This is incredibly helpful! I have been looking for something like this for AWHILE.
Currently I have Inoreader which is an rss feed reader hooked up to my favorite Youtube channels and newsletters via Kill the Newsletter. I hate receiving emails from mailing lists so I get a single newsletter via inoreader each day. Everything else is incredibly infrequent so fraidycat's ability to choose how often theyre updated soundss like a godsend.

I'll have to stop back and let yall know how i like it, but the socials-avoidant in me is incredibly pleased.

If you want to follow a specific person, you can always use an RSS generator? Obviously, using a third party tool to scrape feeds can be less than 100% stable, but from the ones I've used, they work fine. I absolutely LOVE RSS feeds. I usually use openrss, but it seems to be down right now, but I'm sure there are other feed generators out there?

Double posting to ask a relevant question, but if people would be interested in a new topic about it let me know.

Besides keeping up with specific creators, is there any alternative to specifically instagram stories? Unfortunately, a lot of community organizers use instagram to promote actions and events. It would be manageable if there was one account that posted every action in a given area, but there's no way  for me to follow *every* organizer in a certain radius.

So i depend on instagram stories to show me actions that are supported by the more general community of organizers/groups I follow. The problem is, there's not a direct way to show just reposts, so I end up on stories for hours at a time just combing through everyday stuff for upcoming events.

It's the closest I've gotten to doomscrolling as well because people often "doom-share" things that provoke a reaction/agitprop. Not that that's a bad thing, but it happens excessively since so many accounts post a little at a time.

Please help. I want to throw my phone into the ocean.

I totally relate! I was a Twitter addict back in 2017-~2022, and finally deleted my account at the end of '23/beginning of '24, but had to create a new account recently. My favourite K-pop boygroup is in a bit of a precarious position with their agency being on the verge of giving up on them and some of the members being shipped off to a survival show to debut in a different temporary group, so I wanted to make sure I'm up with the latest news since the Reddit and Tumblr fan pages for the group is dead and even the Discord servers I'm in are fairly inactive. I don't like it, but what can you do? I just wish fandom was more forum-centric these days!

I've wanted to Leave corporate "social" media for more 2 years at this point, today I took the first major step which was deleting my Reddit account, which may sound extreme but i refuse to stay on such a hateful toxic echo chamber. i want to do the same with my Instagram and (maybe my discord account). unlike Reddit i found this hard to do because of all the fond memories i had interacting with irl friends who were often busy during the school week or just never spoke to or hung out with me all that because we were in different friend groups.

I even managed to make a very close friend from another state, and facilitated an interest in a hobby/sport that kept me fit and in touch with my friends for almost two years! now that my life has changes so drastically and ive became incredibly anti social having not spoken to a single person outside of my family for almost a year (online and irl).

At this point Im just logging out of habit and longing for the time when i used to use social media to be social and not as a distraction. anyway Whats kept me from taking the final step is the thought that maybe i can salvage some of these friendships and try to talk elsewhere. considering how much my social skills have declined i don't think i will be able to initiate those conversations after having gone so long without speaking to my former friends. I'm honestly at a loss on how i should go about any of this. have any of yall had any similar experiences, if so maybe hearing from you will inspire me:trash: .

( :ok: sorry if this sounds more like a madman's thoughts than anything)
