I am a HUGE fan of "pet" sites and other creature-related sim games played in a browser, and I have been since I was a young teenager. I usually keep one or two open at a time every time I go on the internet. But I'm starting to worry, am I on the cutting-edge of it all?? Have I heard of/played everything? I've scoured the internet for something I've never heard of, but I haven't been able to find much. But I know that the genre is still being kept alive!

I think I've played everything worth playing, but I'm still not satisfied for some reason. The people on this forum seem to know of things that I don't, so are there any other petsite fans here? What are you currently playing? Your favourites? Any recommendations/obscure ones that you like? What flight in Flight Rising did you pick?

Right now, I'm playing Pixel Cat's End, and waiting for stuff like Pawborough and Mythaura (yeah right, I've been following it for so long, it'll probably be out when I'm in my 30s.) to develop into a playable state. I think my all time favourite would be Wolvden, though my itch for that comes and goes. Most people don't like sim sites where your pets/characters can die, but in this case I think it adds to the experience, creates individual stories, and keeps things fresh.

Hi! I personally am a really big fan of OviPets - or at least, I was! I stopped playing for awhile, though I'm highly considering getting back into it. The genetic component of breeding animals with other users always really excited me, and the community is still pretty active!I also think the Paid currency is really fair - You need to purchase credits one time at a minimum of $3 to be a "premium" user (who has access to advanced features) and the rest of the game is super accessible without needing to pay.I havent paid since the initial $3 I spent on credits in the past and I would have considered myself a "top" player back in the day. If you havent checked out OviPets I think its something you'd really enjoy!  :dive:

I've definitely heard of it, and that IS on my list of the ones I haven't tried playing yet. I'm not sure why I haven't to be honest? Looking at it now I can totally dig it. I think Final Outpost is the most genetics-heavy site I've played on and I really like that one so I think I would like this one as well. I'll probably sign up at some point, thanks!

I feel like all of the obscure ones I played were in like, middle school or high school and so are all now defunct probably. I also don't really remember what they were called unfortunately.

Right now my main faves are flight rising, chickensmoothie, the final outpost, dragon cave, and pokefarm q. And neopets if it counts?

I would definitely like to find more to try though. I think I've tried most of the "mainstream" ones at this point.

I love petsites! Been messing around on them since the early 2000s. I have a list here of ones i've played (or at least signed up on).

I chose nature on fr because I love nature! Here's my lair
What did you pick?

The official art of a pet sim is a huge factor in whether or not I'm interested in a petsim in the first place, being an artist myself I'm pretty picky haha. Back in the day I was also looking for a pet sim with a community I could be a part of, but these days I'm more into something that I could make my own characters and story with what they have already, I need like a good jumping off point. With FR I tend to ignore a lot of the official lore but the setting and other concepts are really interesting and I've been having fun making my own story with it. Pixel Cat's End is also a really good example of a nice jumping off point, they have a great setting. I haven't made much progress with characters or story yet, sometimes things need time to develop.

My neopets are my most developed ocs thus far, which makes sense because I've been playing neopets the longest. I'm working on a comic with my neopets too.

Waittt that has one of the ones I forgot the name of on it, exhibited! I played it very briefly, it's somewhat similar to lioden but more Jurassic park-y. (minus the Incidents haha) The other one I forget the name of was a gryphon breeding game similar to The Final Outpost but much older. I'm not sure if it still exists.

Also I completely forgot to say what flight I'm in, I started off in light but after a few years switched to lightning and I've been there ever since.

Exhibited was great, I loved the art on that site. I don't know what kept me from playing it more, maybe it was difficult in some way, I can't remember now.

The only gryphon petsim I know of is Gryffs, and it still exists! The gameplay is not fun and a bit prohibitive though in my opinion, I tried it again a couple years ago and couldn't really get anywhere.
If it had small pixel-y art then I don't know it haha, I tended to avoid dragoncave-esque sites with small pixel art because it wasn't my fave. The Final Outpost is the only one of that genre I've really tried.

I'm in Water! I've considered moving to Nature a few times but I can't give up that place. And I have to agree, I'm incredibly picky about the art quality/style when choosing to join a new site. Though it has lessened over the years. I'm not much of a lorebuilder myself but some games really give you the right tools to create great stories.

I remember keeping an eye on its supposed sequel game, Evosaur, but that never really went anywhere (plus the dinosaurs are shrinkwrapped to hell and back and it's a major turn off.) I wish there was a modern dinosaur-themed site. I would totally play it all the time, especially if it was made by the Lioden/Wolvden guy.

And also, I've never heard of a pixel art site dealing with specifically gryphons at all. I've played Magistream and Tales of Ostlea (RIP), and both of those had gryphons, but they weren't the primary focus. I've played Gryffs but I didn't like it either  so I don't know

I know for sure it wasn't gryffs, it was pixel art for sure. I don't remember much more about it other than it having a similar system to TFO for breeding colours. The site might have had a dark teal background?

I have never heard of evosaur. I think a dinosaur game in the lioden/wolvden series would be amazing though. I wonder if they'd ever do that. It would be interesting to be a wild dinosaur rather than have dinosaurs in a zoo.
