OCs' profiles

for those of you with an OCs directory and/or profiles, what advice do you have for others? how to start, and where to start? maybe you could share how you do it, or show examples, or suggest helpful code snippets?

i often look for inspiration on Toyhouse, but i still struggle to create it. like it's too complex to me. i generally don't have problems with information structuring, but this thing is overwhelming for some reason. 

i already have some options, and i've started building a character wiki, but i would still be glad to hear some advice or even just check out your profiles! (this is my veeeery WIP character page. for now, i will be focused on filling it with information rather than designing.)

I think you already have a good template. I have character profiles for my game. They're less about giving information and more to look interesting. They are structured like succinct police logs. That's just how I did it and they're not good for large amounts of info.

^For this one I sort of wanted to make "my own toyhouse", I'm thinking of changing all their layouts to match this in different colours and then using the more unique layouts as in-character diary pages, but I'm undecided.

^These two are older and need some work but I like the visuals. I asked myself what it would look like if these characters had personal homepages and these were the result.

I'm taking it really slow with creating pages for my characters, and if you feel overwhelmed like I often do, I suggest you do the same. Take it 1 page at a time and know that if you want to change something completely later on, you can do so.

If you don't already have the info written out somewhere I suggest you do that first, then move on to the layout step, because there's nothing worse than having a great layout but no idea what to put in it.

This is my OC page, it's severely lacking but at least there's some info there. It's all for my DnD characters though.

An advice I'd give for looking up templates for stuff like this, if you want to like, use a ready-made code, is to look on Tumblr (Theme Hunter is a good one) for specifically character pages, like, for roleplay. Because those pages are separate from the main blog, codes for them generally work well for html pages outside of Tumblr.

You might want to ask the creator if they're okay with such usage, of course, but generally if you keep the credit they in-build into their themes, it should be okay.

(This method works for just inspo too!)

That's what I did for my videogame OCs page ('cause at that moment I just wanted to write about them and not think about the page code) and for my comic OCs personal pages like this one ('cause I wanted a very specific look with stats and had no idea how to make that).

Now, my page for other OCs I just winged myself without getting too complicated, so it's pretty simple.

As you may notice they are all pretty different so, uh, as far as content goes, go with your gut and the vibe really.
