Which Shrine should I make?

Hi Melons. I am finally ready to try making my first shrine.

Like many of you I have numerous deep and consuming interests. 

Please help me narrow my focus for this mini project by voting in the poll above.

If any of you have a shrine on any of these (or similar) topics, PLEASE share them!!

AHHHH omg!! lightning!!! 

final fantasy 13 is my favourite mainline ff game!! it means SO much to me. i spend a lot of time thinking about the way the characters develop... i actually have prints of lightning, fang and vanille up on my wall right over my PC hehe!! there is something incredible there that many people miss. it's a fantastic game driven by deeply layered and flawed characters, and i couldn't ask for anything more.

i'm also a ff8 fan, i roleplayed as quistis for a short while in fact!! i still do ff rp hehe, just not her... sadly, but she does live in my head sometimes. it has such a unique feel to it that i don't know when we'll see again. i remember wandering the streets of timber and marvelling at the detail... seeing centra and feeling chills down my spine. it was magical.

i'll be building my own megashrine of sorts for the whole ff series in good time... but i'm fighting with my index page as it is!  if you build either, i'd love to see them!!

i'm not sure if you've ever seen it, but there's a bunch of fansites listed on redcrown.net for the whole series!! they're so worth a look

@fairyrune Thanks so much for your reply. Creepy cosmic timing: I recently cleared a bunch of stuff out of my attic and found a page I'd ripped out of an old Gaming magazine pre-FFXIII's release, which has a whole feature about Lightning when she was still 'unknown protagonist'(!). And I just stuck that page to my wall before sitting at my computer and seeing your post. SO nice to meet another fan!!

Would you be down to share a picture of the prints above your PC??? Sounds like a beaUtiful display.

You've prompted me to think more about why I love Lightning so much - and I think it is that she's not perfect, that she hurts people and pushes them away, so it's easier to relate to her and also to want to be as strong as she is. Love a character with room for growth. Love that her key relationship dynamic is with her SISTER rather than some boi.

Quistis could be another whole essay - and I still listen to the VIII soundtrack while working.

I definitely see more love for FFVIII out on the net than XIII, so maybe I should let that make my choice?

@windit of course!! i believe these prints are from crimson sun and mk's tales of whimsy respectively. now that i think about it, it would be pretty nice to put these on a shrine as a connected collection!! i have... oh... 11 art prints and a bunch of other stuff for ff (most of them are from a zine...!). i don't think i've seen a shrine for a game/book/show/etc. yet that has a connected collection, but i'm pretty new to this!

that's so crazy!! which mag was it? i'd love to see it as well.

lightning is interesting to me precisely because she's allowed to be imperfect (that extends to the rest of the cast, too!!). i know people often criticise her for that, but that's the point of her story. she learns to cope with what's happening to her and learns that working with others is how she will survive.

it's been a good while since i played 8, but i WOULD love to see that essay...!

i'd say that the choice should be yours! but you're right - strangely i do see that more, even though i would have thought 8 to be a bit of a black sheep for several reasons. being sandwiched between two giants is a difficult task to overcome... but it found its audience!

I voted for the Quistis shrine, just because I had a little crush on her when I started playing the game as a teenager. I don't anymore, though I still think FFVIII is possibly the most beautiful games in the franchise.

@stephan_e_perez I had suchhhh a crush on Quistis as well. It's kind of funny that you say 'I don't anymore'. Like what if you still did?? Would that be a crush that latest decades? Unrequited for all those years? How would you move on with life?...

Anyway in a funny Shrine update, my flatmates and I are facing housing insecurity due to Shitty Landlords, so I am creating a PHYSICAL shrine to the goddess Hestia to help us find a secure home.

What if I made a web-shrine which was photos of an IRL shrine. . .

seconding this!! i'm always thinking about the prerendered backgrounds. i love them in general, but in ffviii they're absolutely stunning. centra was always my favourite location but timber is another big hit for me.

i've known people who make webshrines for gods as well!! i think especially if you don't have much space or money, or want to preserve a physical shrine, the intent is what matters. maybe something to think about!

and wow, i didn't know they showed off versus so early! i know it was in development hell, but i'm still surprised. the gambit system... ahhhh, i miss it.
