Pitch Skelecool: Remnants is a soft reboot/sequel of a game jam game I made called [Skelecool and the very uncool Dr. Nerd. Unlike that game. My goal is to make an actual good game.
My new game sticks to parodying 2000s edginess. Guns, shades, tench coats, guns, green colour graded visuals, something your big brother would play (also imitates 90s CGI kinda). But this time, the game will be fast pace. Featuring strafing, ramming, spin attacks, and a trick system.
my new movement system can be seen here. While an old video, it sums up the basis of my mechanics.
Story so Far
Basically, following the previous game where Skelecool kills Dr. Nerd. He gets arrested for assassination and chucked into a cell with a mercenary called CadavX. They have been in the same cell for months and now CadavX depises Skelecool after all his skeleton puns. Randomly, the security turns off leading to all the cells being open. CadavX instantly abandons Skelecool. So, he steals a motorbike and tries escapes. When he finally does, CadavX betrays him and throws him off a cliff ending the prologue of the game.
Skelecool gets fix up with some cyborg prosthetics by a young mechanic and something leads to him searching for remnants of his race (In the previous game his village gets burnt down).
That's as much as I thought up.
EDIT 1 (Potential) Levels Prison Escape Green Patch Zone (everything is on fire) Casino World Dystopian City Rooftops --> Sewers Wolf Palace (a palace run under a wolf monarch) --> Dark Forest Dr. Nerd's tower remnants

During development my first level I created initially included combat sections and precised platforming. As you can see in the video, that was a mistake. Also I finalized what I wanted to do for my story and this level didn't fit in.
I tried again now with stuff akin to sonic (boosts, rails) and I think it turned out pretty well.

The reason why there is a headshot in the corner is because there was a feature in the previous game where skelecool could comment on whats happening with some bad puns added in. I'm also adding death reactions, reactions when he kills an enemy, reactions when he spins e.t.c
 Edit 2 I just commissioned a musician to create some music for my game. I've only ask them to create 3 songs for the demo I'm planning to release (mostly for budget reasons (I'm broke with no job)). This means I'm 100% committed to finishing this game. Here's a really dated page for my game

Looking great! Feel like we need more vehicular platformers like this. I played Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom a year or so ago and thought it was a really interesting concept of platformer mixed with light racing/vehicle elements. Loving the personality and overall direction for this, it has a lot of character. Thanks! The movement is heavily based on F-Zero. It also allows better handling at high speeds in my opinion. I've heard about Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom and I think it's pretty neat.
