I more or less only make use of free tools cause I dislike paid subscription services.

I wonder what tools or services other forum members are using. Maybe I miss out on some good ones that I should be aware of

And are there any tasks that you would like to have a good online tool / generator for?

I often use: List randomizer, HTML character escape and URL escape tools. Sometimes I make use of some older background removal tools to get the job done quick. When in need of better quality, the path tool or working with alpha channel masks will do the job for me. Oh and .htpasswd generators sometimes.

Besides that I like the 88x31 button generator from datakra.sh and cooltext.com.

yt-dlp is so convenient. Instead of going on dodgy youtube to mp3 sites to download videos. yt-dlp is a CLI tool. go to a directory on cmd type "yt-dlp <video link>" boom you have the video. you do have to add -f mp4 or -t mp3 to get filetypes other than webm but it's so, so convenient.

For tools I want.

Possibly a tool to read a video file of someone talking. Record each mouth shape and when the mouthshape is made in a text file so I can apply to a rig in blender. Lip syncing in animation is really tedious and annoying so it would be nice if a tool like that existed. I thought of programming it myself because I do believe I would be able to make it but I'm not bothered enough.

Probably my two most used generators are Fantasynamegenerators.com for names for my stories and games, and Dinopass.com for human readable (but still secure) passwords. Back when I made websites for commercial customers, I used to use credit card generators, since I had to send dummy data through purchase forms to make sure everything worked correctly.

I'm not sure what else I'd want in terms of tools that aren't available right now. For a while I've been wanting an app that ONLY does palette building and manipulation, since I work with palettes a lot when I'm making pixel art. It always seems like the palette saving/editing tools within art programs are an afterthought and aren't really robust enough for me.

That actually is a really nice idea.

What exactly would you want a tool like that to accomplish for you in terms of palette saving/editing?

I like the [88x31] Button Generator from datakrash really much. It's a nice tool to get the job done quickly. I could do it myself in an image editing suite but when I don't have time datakrashs tool comes in handy and I think it is the most advanced 88x31 pixel button generator out there.

Then there is cooltext.com which has been around for like... ever? It reminds me of the old days and it is nice to use. I rarely use it in general because I do most of the image editing stuff manually but it's an old and cool project that still is maintained.

Hm, let's see. Aside from basic, loading/saving/editing, I'd want the ability to export in multiple formats and grab colors in multiple formats (hex, RGB, etc.), maybe some "smart" tools to help find complimentary colors, the ability to name and organize swatches, and maaaaaybe loading and palette swapping in images, though that might be beyond the scope of a palette program. But that in particular would be especially helpful for testing palette cycling in mockups, which I find difficult to plan for some reason.

It'd also be great if it had integration functionality into other palette services, especially lospec.com, which is where I get a good number of palettes. There are a few Android apps that let you browse and directly load palettes from the net, and I LOVED that feature.
