So, a while back, I tried out this program called Eagle Mode, which uses a type of UI I have never seen before, where everything's on a massive field that you can zoom in infinitely into, and there's always more detail to find. It's so unique, and I've found it extremely fun to use.

I also looove it's vibes. I love scaaaale, there's something fun about getting smacked in the face realizing just how huge/tiny something you were just taking at face value is. I've never seen anyone replicate this in the form of a website, so I thought I'd be the first and do it myself... And I even got a WYSIWYG page editor for it. (Spoiler Alert: It's just Inkscape :ok:)

Here's what I got so far. Optimizing it was quite painful, but I think I've gotten it to a point where it's good enough. Though if any JavaScript wizards have some tips on optimizing it further, that would be very nice.

(A lot of the pages just have placeholders, either being "SOON" graphics, or a portal causing infinite recursion, which is fun to get lost in~)

Wow, this is really cool! I've never seen this kind of layout before, and it's pretty fun to just keep zooming in and having new stuff pop up (even if that new stuff is just an increasingly squished recursion at the moment). Can't wait to see how this develops.

Wow that's a really interesting and fun concept. It seems like you're trying to make it so you can infinitely zoom in, which is also a cool idea but it gets squished the more I zoom in. My browser is also struggling to display the page and I'm using Firefox. I seems to struggle when a lot of elements are on screen. I'm guessing it's because of all the svgs. Maybe increase the size svg needs to be before they are displayed or optimize your svg files. Maybe even reduce the viewport height and width (which you use to check if the element is outside the viewable range from what I seen in your code).

Yes, I agree this is awesome! It's so rare to see something new in the UI space, though I think there's still a lot of potential for innovation there even after all the conventions we've developed. I'm not seeing any issues with zooming on my end (Firefox with a large amount of plugins), but I think that's probably to be expected while you're still developing for it. I assume you'll get the kinks worked out as you go along.
