picked up a programming class

As the title says, i have done so. I signed up for c, because c seems cool. I probably shouldve chosen C++ but its too late for that now.

My main goal with this is to try to make friends, as i could just watch a 12 hour video on how to code in c for free on youtube, Im mainly looking for a girl to befriend because boys are too loud and annoying, I at least hope i have time to socialize.

Ive never had an IRL friend in my life. this should be a good way to start.

C is a great language to learn and I'm impressed they even offer classes in it; It was my first programing language and I had a lot of fun with it, plus its a wonderful foundation for learning any other language.

I hope you'll report back about what sort of people attend the class though since its kinda an unusual language to learn today! My suggestion for making friends would be; firstly don't be too picky, you might find someone your expect, or you might find a 80 year old mechanic called Bob, both can be good friends  I'd suggest finding/making an after class study group and see who shows up, and setting yourselves some challenges to work on

Honestly, when it comes to learning programming languages, it often doesn't matter. Languages are by and large transferrableish when you figure it out. The concepts you will learn about data structures, debugging and programming concepts that are transferrable.

In a weird way, it may help you learning a slightly older language as you will have to deal with old things that modern programming languages don't have, so you may get a head start.

There's an old saying: C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but it takes your leg off.

C's a better starting choice.

Learning C will give you a handle on many aspects of programming that higher-level languages often conceal. Memory allocation. Pointers. Passing by value versus passing by reference. Compilation. A JavaScript programmer can go their entire career without thinking about these things, but a C programmer will almost certainly certainly gather an understanding of them.

It's not that JavaScript programs don't need these things. It's just well-concealed enough that you don't think about it: handled by the interpreter or the language itself, tucked out of view. But the computer's still doing them.

Good luck with the socialising! It's not always easy, either - just like C - but with both making friends and making C programs... practice makes it easier!
