are there any long form video sharing space for artists?

does anyone know any long form video sharing platform specifically for artists? i miss watching sketchbook tours while drawing and i dont wanna watch them on youtube cuz of the identity theft thing and there are too many ads.   also itd be nice to find the more nieche artists sketchbook tour which the yt algorithm usually sorts out

I don't know of any specifically for artists but I DO know of a youtube competitor that allows for a lot of like, heavy customization and brought back the good stuff from old youtube. It's called https://www.bitview.net, it's a very small community, but it feels very close to home in a sense, and welcomes indie creators with open arms!

(it also gets rid of all the nasty AD stuff and AI bs that youtube keeps spoon feeding us >:c )

peertube could act as such, if you join the right instance. it's a fediverse-based video sharing platform, so decentralized to the same degree email is.

your mileage with it will vary depending on where your account is hosted; a large public instance such as spectra.video or peertube.wtf is not as well-suited for this purpose as your local timeline will largely consist of random gaming clips and unedited trailcam footage (there is of course topic filters and search features, but you need to actively use them). there are instances dedicated to arts&crafts, i follow someone from makertube, which as the name implies is focused on makerspace folk; they upload speedpaint/speedcraft videos regularly. probably more where that came from.

as a temporary crutch for identity theft thing (i read that as "youtube stealing the viewer's identity", assuming that is correct): if you must use youtube, do it through invidious. UX/stability sucks, because hosting invidious is basically waging guerilla warfare against Google (Google really hates when people refuse to be tracked and fingerprinted lmao), but at least your soul isn't getting photocopied and backed up to 15 different datacenters in the process
