Hello!

I'd like to share my personal pet project Rebels in the Sky.

It's a command line game that runs in your terminal, you can download binaries from the above link or build it from the github repo or even just try it without installing anything with `ssh frittura.org -p 3788`

Quote
It's the year 2101. Corporations have taken over the world. The only way to be free is to join a pirate crew and start plundering the galaxy. The only means of survival is to play basketball.

Now it's your turn to go out there and make a name for yourself. Create your crew and start wandering the galaxy in search of worthy basketball opponents.

At the moment I'm the only dev working on it, but we do have a small core of regulars, which makes the development very fun in that feedback is always taken into account and often implemented quite quickly. Would love to get some from you :)

I also have a couple other command line games, you can have a look at https://github.com/ricott1. Cheers!

This is amazing!

I'm loving some of the things people are pulling off with SSH lately, especially thanks to libraries like Wish. Did you see ssh tiny.christmas? (By the same author, I also really enjoyed seeing a blog post observing an SSH quirk, recently!)

you are caroling solo! Pretty neat, if u like this, check out `ssh frittura.org -p 2020` It's a multiplayer maze game where u need to find the exit while escaping minotaurs :)

I tried wish/bubbletea, and apart from my personal preference of Rust over Go, it had some weird flickering when updating over a certain fps. Maybe that is solved now, I remember seeing an issue but it was a while ago

I just told my flatmate that I am playing a game about basketball playing space pirates, and he knew it already - he did some deep dive into terminal games recently, and stumbled over it - your saturation within this segment seems to be pretty good ;).

This is really really cool!  :ozwomp:

I've seen some SSH apps before, but not one this well made and fleshed out, it's really impressive!! The game itself seems pretty interesting, definitely one I can leave up in a secret terminal at work lol. I really like that there is an IRC system, and it seems like you can challenge the crews of other people connected? That's so sick!

This is also really cool, I haven't seen Wish before, but I was aware of their other project Bubble Tea. I am just getting around to learning to using Go, and this has got me really curious about trying to build some TUI apps using Wish and Bubble Tea

That's crazy lol. In general, i've found that a lot of people kinda tried the game and dropped it quickly, which i think it's understandable cause it's not, how to put it, fun? :) Which is a bit of a shame cause in reality the game would shine if a lot of humans (or dogs?) were playing, cause all the bots and local stuff it's kinda filler until more real players show up.

Would love to get opinions on the gameplay itself, no risk of hurting my feelings, I have a very honest daughter

I did some quick dives in; I lost two matches, then thought about mining an asteroid, but didn't find out how it worked (I didn't try overly long, as I have a lot to do these days :3). I'm a hard audience for manager games, though ;).
However, if many people quit it fast, this is not necessarily your games fault - it seems to be a general rule that the majority of players drops out rather fast; when there are "Beat the Tutorial" achievements on Steam, it is not rare that under 50% of those who booted the game obtain it. Part of the medium.
