I think these kinds of things qualify:
Stylus: This is my fave and it basically is a browser extension that allows you to create custom themes via CSS for any website you want. I have this for almost every site I use that has a boring theme to it and it makes the experience of being on the internet SO MUCH BETTER
XP Newtab: OK THIS ONE IS THE FUCKING BOMB. Basically, creates a windows/desktop kinda website as your browser landing page and its so cool and customizable. you can do Windows 98/95, XP, or 7 as the theme, and can change the background image and everything. PLus, you can add windows and icons too! Personally. I use it as a way to bookmark pages, like I have icons for websites that act as quick links to theme. And in addition to this, just custom themes for browsers makes the whole thing just so much better
Also needless to say, custom site making. I use this for a shit ton of things. obviously my personal site, but also making pseudo mobile apps of sites I use often (for example, THIS ONE). Its pretty simple. You can include a few simple lines in your header (listed bellow) and then if you make a bookmark icon on your homescreen of the site, it opens as though its its own app. I use this to access sites like this and status.cafe and imood so i can edit my status easily on mobile and dont have to go to the page on safari every time (just a note: not sure if this works on Android as I am on apple, but hopefully it does)
Also I guess I just spend less time on big huge social medias. Like, yk, I have accounts for some of them for the sake of access (twitter for example) but I tend to spend my time on smaller social media sites like Bitview, Vidlii, Spacehey, Blips.club, Any site or forum of the indieweb
Also I tend to just curate my experience a lot. Like yk, im on reddit and Tumblr but those tend to be smaller I think less mainstream social medias and therefore are better in my opinion.
Anyways uh, idk if thats what this forum thread is looking for but I thought id share
