Sharing a new page that I've added to my website. It's for my research project, Second Creature, which is a bimonthly bulletin or digest including essay & collage on cyberfeminism, history, and African thought. 


I may make a separate thread about this in the coming days, but since beginning to work on SC I have felt keen to subscribe to other personal newsletters (particularly ones that feature personal updates/independent research). I have an are.na channel where I'm gathering subscribe pages... If you write a regular newsletter, consider linking yours! this page is gorgeous! i love the sort of... well it's hard to describe, but the shiny, bubbly feel of old "hi-tech" magazines. i've signed up; i'm excited to see your work. i've been really enjoying reading the artist interviews on your site, too.

out of curiosity - how did you come up with the design? are there any particular things that inspire you?

Hey @fairyrune ! Thanks a lot. And I'm so glad to know you've read the interviews.

About the design, gosh, there is no specific reference - probably hundreds of websites I've browsed over the past several years. Reading your reply made me glance through my folder of screenshots from sites I admire, though, and one of the things in there a quiz game called Cybertrophy that I came across in an html literary magazine last year (unfortunately, I can't remember which one) and played. Here is a link, if you'd like to see it: https://cybertrophy.net/. I wasn't thinking of Cybertrophy consciously, but I can now tell that it was an influence lol.

I read on your 'about' page that you are going to start an email list. When it's up, I'd love to join! Your about page is one of my favorite ones I've ever seen.

i can see it! there's a sort of "girls' magazine" vibe here. it's interesting how many different kinds of "retro" i see in the web revival space. i like browsing personal sites for the design as much as the content, because there's so much creativity out there. and it's fun to see something from a professional, you've got great skills!

thank you! though i should clarify, it won't be a mailing list. it's just for people to be able to contact me if they like however, i do plan on setting up an RSS feed soon, which i hope will link to my update box. when it's done i'll definitely post in the big RSS thread ^_^
