Club Penguin Island - Does it deserve the hate?

Alight, i know this is a weird topic but, i love CPI and felt like i should make this tread.

Club Penguin island is the reboot of Club Penguin, which came out in 2017. Disney used it as a scapegoat to shut down the original. So it got a lot of flack for being "new" and different.

But enough about the general opinion, do you guys like it?

I personally ADORE this game, even if it only lasted about 1 year. I like logging onto opencpi daily and going to visit rookie and see JPG (my newest husband with rayman).

So, what do you guys think about CPI? Does it deserve the hate?

I never played CPI, but why was it getting hate? There's a few club penguin reboots out, I don't know if you've looked into any of those. I vaguely remember trying one at some point but it didn't captivate me in the same way it used to. These days I only tend to play Toontown Rewritten (and even that can be hard to stick with when you don't have a consistent group).

It's sad that it never got a chance to thrive. The short lifespan probably set in stone that it was "nostalgiabait" and turned away new users. I've tried it a few times, but like the above commenter it didn't stick with me like the original had. Does the revival have more features? I might give that one a try,

i never got around to playing it, but looking at the gameplay, it looked like such a fun, lively, and polished game - and i have a real knack for virtual worlds like it. the trampoline at the center of the main room in particular caught my eyes even years after, genius! wish i could've played it. instead i just watched all the let's players blabber about it back then.

i did remember it being very blatantly freemium, with many minigames restricted unless you had some sort of membership, not a good look at all. it was also quite crowded with disney ips, which sounds fun but can come off as annoying for more veteran players of club penguin.

the reception was understandable - they could've retrofitted the main game even without flash, but instead wanted to make something different to overwrite what monetary control they had of the game, and people caught on to that. may an mmo never fall victim to the hands of disney again.
