hello!! new here, just wanted to drop my neocities as well as my 2 major web projects from this year these are both part of the same longterm project, and i'm hoping to get the first real narrative segment out later this year

no way this is so cool 0_0 tjong looks so mega awesome..!!! the "simulacra" species interest me the most because I believe that's a term in post-modern theory... unfortunately I haven't read tjong's page fully because of visual issues (I really can't read anything unless it's dark text on light background; I was able to read mery's page though!)

I'm happy to see southeast asian stories!!! similarly I have ocs and worlds that are filipino, inspired by pre-colonial filipino culture. I have a hard time making names for my characters and locations; I ended up literally just stringing together random syllables and naming them after scientific names of plants and animals. what is your process in naming your characters/locations, I wonder?

this definitely inspires me to work on my oc pages. I just don't know where to start @_@

edit: I have to clarify, though I haven't confirmed if your characters or stories are indeed southeast asian, I recognized some kind of familiarity with the names you have given to the non-character elements of your worldbuilding. I checked and saw that you have "ind" in your bio and my hunch was correct, the story is indonesian in some way

thank you!! and yes simulacra and simulation is a very interesting text to me.. and thematically relevant. fun fact re: cultural references, the designs of the simulacra characters are inspired by wayang.

this made me realize 5/6 pages there are light on dark, oops. i myself use dark mode on everything i can, so i guess i didn't really think about it... but now that's got me thinking abt adding light/dark mode on some of my projects later.

anyways, the character bios are also on my toyhouse if you'd like to read them there!!

ngl names are so hard ;; save me baby name websites save me (and with that in mind, locations are even harder). but i try to keep sooome balance of "real" names, names that come from real words, and entirely invented names. sometimes i use real words or combinations of words and modify them a bit -- a lot of my indo-inspired place/concept names come from the latter. and for completely made up ones, i just try throwing syllables together til something sounds alright... then i look it up to make sure it doesn't mean something weird in another language lmao. when i have multiple characters from the same culture or region, i might try to use similar naming conventions for them.
