Web☆Station! - Retro internet message board

I hope everyone reading this is doing well :D

  Introducing Web☆Station!
Today I'd like to introduce a project I've been working on for a good while now. I'm a computer science student and have been recently studying web frameworks and technologies.    It's been a really interesting topic and I was inspired both by my love of old web design and the concept of retro forums and message boards.

What is Web☆Station?
Web☆Station is an anonymous retro message board. You don't need an account in order to post. Your posts are created using a unique id that is stored as a cookie in your browser. The site is split into boards that cover a variety of topics. Within these boards, you can create threads and others can join the discussion by posting replies to your thread.

What makes it different?
Web☆Station is intentionally kept simple, posts can be formatted using basic bbcode, posts can also be pinned or locked by a moderator/admin. In the profile tab, you can enter your own custom css that will style all of your posts throughout the site.    The same applies for boards, each board can have it's own custom css set by an admin. This way all of the boards can have their own retro style.

The site is currently at a temporary domain here. I plan to migrate the site to a more permanent domain at a later date. I also plan to add more sections to the site such as a resource directory, a section for affiliated sites, a music player, etc.

I'd love for some members of the community who are able to to try out the site. Please note there may be some bugs that managed to get past my testing. I'd love to hear your feedback when possible if you try the site out!

Thank you for the feedback! Could you elaborate if possible? It is currently possible for a user to set their own custom css for their posts. Any post they make anywhere on the site will be themed that way. Do you mean allowing the user to change the styling when they are making the post?

hmm I cannot see it sadly. I'm planning to make documentation on this in the future.

For now though, I'll tell you here:

Your user will have a random ID (this can be seen in the profile page and the top of your posts)
You'll need to use this formatting for the css selector:

.post-user-(replace with your userID) {
    background-color: red !important;
}

You'll also need to include "!important" at the end of any css rules because you are overriding the existing styles

Please give this a try and lmk if you run into any issues

Sadly lol. It is optimized for older browsers, but won't go that far back. That line's only there for == !Character! == I do wish I could make it work in a browser that old tho...

CSS post customization is cool. so you might want to add the rule against abusing it (like making messages unreasonably big, adding flashing lights or maybe XSS worms).
