You could create 5 or 6 websites.. or just one!  :ha:  I've technically created a few "sites" prior to Melvin's World! but these were all just offline files I used to experiment with HTML and CSS before I made the big step to going live.

My ethic is that a personal website is dynamic and grows with the webmaster. If I have a new idea that's completely different from the rest of the site; I just toss it in somewhere and create a sort of labyrinth that rewards exploration. If I don't like something, I could rework it, bury the page (no direct link to it), or just delete the page itself. But make a new site completely? Not a fan of the idea. Still, Never say never y'know? I've only been a formal webmaster for 3ish years.

Here's a brain teaser for ya: What if I renamed my site? Or, what if I changed my host from Neocities to something else? Is it still the same site? :ohdear:

only one, my neocities account.. unless you count making websites for school? but yea i didn't start making that site until 2022, when i tried to start my first blog which only has like 5 entries (though its still up on the current neocities site i think) then i started using it for my comic since i was inspired to start the comic thing on usenet which doesnt let me upload pictures, then i joined a webring which pushed me into the actual web creation thing more and now im here

also heres one of the things i made for school :) (had to bitcrush it bc phone images are megabytes)

Counting only the ones I've had go live? About three. Two of them were a single domain that I launched in 2009 as a young college student, coded with HTML and CSS basically as my main art site. I revamped its design completely enough in 2011 to count it as a new site, as I got better at coding. It's not live anymore, thankfully.

The third site is still available at quantumtrinket.neocities.org, but I've completely set it on ice since 2022, so for now all you'll see is an ACCESS DENIED page I made. Before then, I intended to make that space for any stories I made for the OCTs I was a part of at the time (OCT = Original Character Tournament, a competition where you competitively write stories of your characters pitted against others' characters for an in-universe grand prize or goal). Though the front page isn't there anymore, technically there's a section I still have on that site. I coded all the pages, myself, credited as QuantumTrinket which is an alt pen name of mine (warning, the character pages are heavy on the CSS, I was very inspired by the likes of Heckscaper.com's character pages and IIII tried to emulate their style kinda badly).

Counting any sites that didn't go live/have yet to? I've made 4 sites. The one that currently isn't live is a personal creative site I'm hoping to spruce up and push out as my main web presence. It's partly done so far as life stuff ended up happening and, like with my QuantumTrinket site, I've had to put it on ice for a while. With things stabalising now, I'm hoping to start picking at it again so I have someplace to put all the stuff I'm making.

alrighty
2021
dight - my first published website. i updated it for a while but eventually abandoned it after i made my next personal site. i made a couple sites beforehand at school but nvever published them. i'm pretty sure they're lost to time. :( however, i do still have the files to some site i created by exporting to html in word. yes... word.
2023
splashy - on August 9th, i created a new personal website. i've continued to update it. the site is at the point where it's barely even regcignisable
A Tribute to Zeppelin Wars - single page restrospective site covering the abandonment an of the Roblox game Zeppelin Wars. i have to update this site since the circumstances around the game have changed but it's still a good read.
i love bill jensen - joke fanpage about Bill Jensen, a Christian streamer known for his reactions to trolling.
2024
agoraphillic - collaborative site for Agora Road's Macintosh Cafe users
splashy's code snippets and stuff - a dump for websites i don't really care for and random bits of website code. everything there's under the MIT license btw, feel free to steal as much code as you need.
swagilicous - a site i was making with a friend but i never finished due to... things.
THAT'S IT... for now. i ALWAYS come back...

At the moment I just have one, and I don't have any others planned (though I may have potential second idea for the future).

But in the mid 2000s I did enjoy making websites so if we count those, it's at a bit more. I'm pretty sure it's above that, because I recall making quite a few in the Piczo and Freewebs days.

I started with Piczo's drag-and-drop site maker. Though I now enjoy building my website from scratch, I kind of miss those days! It was fun to be able to drag things wherever I wanted, and a good way to be creative. They even supplied shoutboxes and guestbooks, and later added a community graphics center. They kind of turned into somewhat of a blogging platform near the end but I enjoyed the earlier Piczo. I've had at least 2 sites there but it was probably more than that!

When I moved to Freewebs, I just used templates and edited the colors. I didn't stay there long but I believe I had at least 2 sites there at different times (neither lasted very long).

After that, I had wanted to make a proper website but I just wasn't sure where to start with HTML and CSS, so I had put it off for years. Now I'm glad I've started to make this old dream come true!

Ages ago I had a fanmade Pokemon roleplay site. It's no longer on the web.

Right now I technically just have my main Pencilz.art site which doubles as a personal site and a portfolio of all my projects so it's kinda professional but not really?

I also have my sub-sites for my webcomics but those are under the same domain so I guess they don't really count.

I have one on Neocities (my main one) and another on Nekoweb (just for aesthetic stuff). As a hobbyist, just one website is enough to do everything I want to.

Actually if you count the one that I made on 000webhost back in secondary school as homework, it would be a total of 3. But since it's so long ago, it got deleted from inactivity.
