I thrown some ideas for the melonland forums in the past before, but I never pointed out any ideas for the Melonking.net at all though. Which is why I decided to create this forum post!!
Here some of my ideas on how you can improve melonking.net!!!
- You have an API for TextureTown, why not have an api for Pixel Sea?
- because the printing animation sometimes take a really long time to "load", can we have a fast forward and/or Skip button, and to STOP the printing animation. (will not clear the paper), and maybe even rewinding!! :O
- I see where you were going for the layout for the sitemap, but... I mean... why not have an option to see the entire site map layed out like a column?
- Search bar? Because sometimes you can get lost... Luckily, you can indeed make a little search bar (for searching around your website...) in just plain HTML!! (no js needed. i hope) See here:
https://github.com/CloudCannon/pagefind- Drat baby doll. It would be nice if it provides the javascript error below the screen, which also displays the user agent, the date, time and the beat time when the error occurred, because sometimes i really want to know! If it was a serious error, the user can save it and send the .txt file via melons email. Since this error mostly happens with embeds, you can add the option to open the page outside of the embed. Speaking of which...
- Because most of the stuff in melonking.net is contained inside of the embed, you should be able to have the option to view the stuff outside of the embed. (Next to the Melonking classic button)
- The Feed worm button should be on the top, not on the bottom. What if the worm gets so long that I have scroll all the way down and miss the button because someone is autoclicking? :(
- on the melonking entrance, I should be able to just press the enter key (or the NUM enter key) to just... enter the MelonKing Enterance. Why? Sensibility, that's why!!
This is a hidden button for our dear users who are using the Tab button on their keyboards to navigate the web. This is for jumping the Tab cursor thingy to the embed. A tutorial on how to do that can be found here:
https://css-tricks.com/how-to-create-a-skip-to-content-link/, note that this doesn't work with IE browser, and this simple CSS trick doesn't require javascript! Yipee!
- I noticed that you have 4 videos just floating around in the universe. You can self-host your own peertube instance (like youtube but decentralized, like Mastodon), and upload your videos there if you want to!!
You can keep them there if you want, just have your own peertube instance for your own convenience. Here is the peertube website:
https://joinpeertube.org/ Most of these are small changes are merely just accessibility, they shouldn't ruin the experience of melonking.
I've learned that even the littlest accessibility feature can have a good impact on a handful of users. While accessibility might be too hard make, it's kinda a necessity.
I've been trying my hardest to make my website accessibility friendly as well, And I hope melon does the same. Now of course, melon doesn't have to do all of these, because it is pretty overwhelming
, but I must get it off of my chest some how, right?
