my biggest gripe with digital art

So you start out with a white background and eventually when u want to change it, all of ur art is slightly transparent and WILL look differently because of how it interacted with the white, is there like a workflow in programs to avoid this besides like drawing ur backgrounds first or using solid colors for everything lol

hm, i don't think i've ever run into this issue. though i mostly draw in solid colors lol

are your brushes very soft, and do transparency around the edges? in that case, you could just have two temporary background layers - one white that you draw on, and one bright red or green, that you can blink to check if you have any parts that aren't fully colored in.

If you still want a white undertone for your art after you change the background colour, try using the magic wand tool (or equivalent in your program) to select the blank space around your drawing. Then you can invert/reverse the selection and fill the new selection with white. If the outline is too harsh you can feather your selection or blur the edges, then edit it to your liking. Shouldn't take too long.

I've been drawing digitally since 2005 and I've never encountered that issue before!

Huh, are you using a solid fill brush or a more artsy brush? If it's the former, just make sure your opacity is maxed.
Also, I usually use the paint bucket tool to fill the inside of the lineart, then use inherit alpha to make sure it never goes out of the lines.

I use more watercolory brushes cuz im a sucker for light textured colors so they have so much transparency :P lol
ive usually been like going back and just solid filling the back of my drawing with white before adding a background ^.^

Right, I used to use watercolor brushes a lot too. The paintbucket white + inherit alpha works really well to both keep the color consistent and keep the watercolor strokes within the lineart.
