hi, I'm kibbeh! I'm a digital artist who loves drawing cute, colorful stuff and designing characters. other than that, I like playing video games in my free time and learning about hidden gems! sonic and pokemon are some of my favorite series :)

I've taken html/css classes a few times throughout my life, and I've considered making a website for a while now (some files in my current site folder are from an entire year ago!) ... but seeing all the cool personal sites here and learning more about the web revival movement has inspired me to give it another go!

forums are where I made lifelong friends, and massive fast-paced platforms like tumblr and discord aren't quite my speed, so it's nice seeing a place like this active and full of so many vibrant and creative people! I hope I can contribute, in my own way :D

Why do you draw or what led you to drawing ? Are you self-taught or have you followed courses ?

I've played Pokémon since the first game was out, I still have some pokémon from many many years ago. When Gen 6 (X/Y & OR/AS) was out, I got crazy about ribbons in pokemon and I transfered a Gengar with the goal of making it a ribbons master. I don't have everything on it tho but I'm very proud of it.

Making your own website seems intimidating but as someone who isn't the brightest bulb of the pack, it's something that is possible. You just have to be patient. I've been doing a lot of trial by error and it's as satisfying as it is frustrating but in the end it's real fun for me !

I was on Tumblr before but I got mad when they introduced their Tumblr Live feature and I was horrified that I needed to pay to change my blog's layout. And one day a post about neocities popped in my feed, I gave it a look and here I am now ! So best of muck to you, drink water regularly, stretch yourself and I wish you all the best on Melonland

I've been drawing since I was a kid, making my own characters or drawing ones from series I like, so that's always what's motivated me to draw. so while I've taken the occasional class, I'm mostly self-taught! nowadays I just try to look at art I enjoy and see how I can incorporate those qualities into my own style :)

interesting to see how long you've been playing! technically my first game was pokemon yellow, but that's 'cause my dad got me into the series and was only really familiar with gen 1 lol. haven't tried to go for the ribbon master thing myself before, but it's always looked like a really cool concept - would be curious to know how it went for you! it sounds like a fun way to revisit each gen, so maybe I'll have to look into it myself sometime

having resources like layout builders for some of the initial hurdles definitely helped with the feeling of intimidation, but it still takes time! been having a lot of fun so far, though (I wanna check out your site more in-depth soon, but in the meantime, I think the style and header/background images changing between each section of the site is a really cool touch!)

also yeah, saw a lot of people upset about the tumblr live stuff, so I don't blame you - at least they've finally gotten rid of it lol. did they really lock customization behind a paywall though? I know some premade themes are paid, but I didn't realize they were limiting more than that, that's frustrating :(
