That's an interesting concept. Sort of a twist on "the forgotten haunting their replacement" trope but instead bonding because the replacement resents being a replacement in the first place? You can definitely do a lot with that.
I've been working on a comic idea for yonks now called Celectrique. It's a furry superhero comic starring a crow named Celeste who, though a series of unfortunate events, including her husband being murdered by an assassin, ends up getting electrical superpowers. She decides to use them to save lives and fight villains, as well as find out who was behind her husband's death. I'm on the road to launching it this year, actually - I've got a bunch of page layouts sketched up, as well as a rudimentary site set up (but not accessible... yet) thanks to the Rarebit comic template. I just gotta work on my work ethic... I'm super lazy.
