Hello friends! I've been playing the Sims since it came out in 2001 and it remains my favorite game in the world (and I am a Sims 4 apologist). What I love most on the Sims forums is when people share their characters and their stories. Anyone out here writing for their Sims, or just have any one they want to share? I have a whole Tumblr dedicated to mine over at unpleasantsimms, but I used to run WordPress blogs as well with storylines. I've realized how much I love generational game play too! Share your favorite Sims story or just talk to me about how you play. I'm always curious.

I haven´t played in a while, but I do recall in Sims 3 playing a storyline involving some poor human who was forced to become the servant of a vampire, and he´s one way out of servitude is to become a vampire himself and work his way up through the ranks of a vampire coven
Basically during the day he would go out and gather food for his master  and also secretly create relationships with other vampires and gather allies.
Tehre also some political intrigue in the re somewhere

I hope to one day build something up like you with really elaborate stories and families with multiple generations! I've always been jealous of people who manage to play like that, because they do it so consistently, and there's always cool random stuff happening to their Sims, bugs or just rare events. I usually have intense Sims phases of playing for days before dropping it again for months, and then I often create something for this specific session or phase, but not always.

Since playing the Sims for the first time when I was 12 until now at 27, I feel like the common stuff I do is:
- A save where I create me and an irl crush of mine and play us meeting and slowly falling in love and moving in together (I know but I am embracing the cringe here, okay)
- Closely related to the first point, but saves where I try to create my ideal self and life, and ideal interior design
- A save with a sim version of me, but she is behaving in ways I never wanted to or could in real life. She's being mean and a whole mess, trying to fight, be a homewrecker trying to get all the wives in the neighborhoods to divorce their husbands and so on. She's trying to date everyone in the whole neighborhood without anyone finding out, and then enjoying the drama when they do. It's evil Ava time.
- I play one of the premade families but I intentionally make their life miserable by always keeping all their stats in red and letting them have messes in public and so on and I just watch it all happen and laugh. Sorry
- Soon I wanna make a save where the sim I create is homeless and starts with zero simoleons. I saw a YouTuber do it and it was funny and challenging trying to have the sim survive in public showers, digging for rocks and slowly building up a little house with saved money one by one.

Actually, I recently saw the Adventure Time episode where Finn has all these mini versions of the characters in Ooo and is creating drama between them on purpose, and my girlfriend and me laughed because that's me playing the Sims and I felt called out .

Heyyy, glad to find this topic  :cheesy: I'm not a big Sims player (yet), but I've been trying the Sims 1 and despite the jankiness and difficulty, I'm having a blast!

I'd like to introduce you to a pair of Sims I created originally for 2 (until I got overwhelmed and quit  :ohdear: ), but decided to recreate their adventures on 1.

:skull:  :skull: :skull: The Dirge Family :skull:  :skull:  :skull:

A family that starts with a pair of supernatural-obsessed siblings, created with the intention to "collect" all Supernatural Sims and create a "monster family" (all the ghosts, PlantSims, Servos, vampires, aliens, werewolves...). Since there's way less supernatural Sims in 1, I tweaked the family's objectives to adapt, but I kept the main duo's personalities and traits the same.

:skull: Carmilla Dirge :skull:

A Morticia wannabe on the ugly side. Ms Carmilla Dirge will do anything to get closer to the world of the occult and achieve immortal life, but her pursues has lead to a terrible curse where her spouses and children often die in mysterious, bizarre and terrible circumstances.

Originally, in the Sims 2, the idea was to have her date an alien, collect "ghosts" through her children ( :skull: ) and eventually turn her into a vampire, thus achieving "immortality".

However, in the Sims 1, I tweaked her to become the main magic-user of the family (until her sole surviving child, Aisha/Lenny Dirge, comes along). I'm currently trying to get her a career in the paranormal. Until then, she happily makes magic ingredients at home and visits Magic Town to mingle with the locals.

:pc: Romero Dirge  :pc:

A mad scientist in-the-making who gets along with animals and robots better than with humans. Sometimes his name gets mispronounced as "Romario". Looks like Dr Robotnik in a Hawaiian shirt, and is obviously in the Science career.

Originally, in the Sims 2, the idea was to have him make Servos, adopt pets, and eventually become a zombie.

However, in the Sims 2, I tweaked him to make potions instead (and maybe carve some gnomes?  :eyes: )

:skull:  :skull:  :skull: Family Objectives of the Dirge Family  :skull:  :skull:  :skull:

- Get jobs (Science career for Romario, Paranormal career for Carmilla)
- Get enough Simoleons and Magicoins to move to Magic Town! They currently live with the normie Sims in a farm a bit off from the center... but at least they get to call and mingle with the Goth family
- Get some thematically-fitting assistance (Bonehilda, Servo) as well as a few amenities (a mysterious genie lamp Carmilla inherited... some flamingos and gnomes... a carnivorous plant (which does nothing in Sims 1  but I think it's a sweet precedent to the Cow Plant in 2 :innocent: )
- Make their home so spooky the Goths will be jealeous  :skull:
- Expand the family! Get Carmilla a spouse, and then have some children, and then have them die to try to get a zombie with a generous side order of ghosts  :skull:  :skull:  :skull:
- Adopt some pets! Dogs, cats, dragons... and maybe even some ghost/zombie pets...  :skull:
- Have Carmilla hook up with Vicki Vampiress as her final spouse can't, apparently neither her or the Fairy Queen Mara are romanceable  Instead, let's invite a royal prince to the family!  :wizard:  It's a rare event when kissing toads. Will he be Carmilla's final spouse? Or maybe a zombie?  :skull: We don't know yet!
- Finally, let Carmilla have one living child that will do magic too and stay a child forever  :wizard:  (maybe with a zombie sib  :skull: ). Their name will be Aisha if it's a girl, and Lenny if it's a boy

That's all for the Dirge Family's adventures in The Sims 1!  :seal:  :seal:  :seal: Maybe I'll come back to this thread explaining how I wanted them to work on Sims 2, or maybe I'll talk about my other families based on my characters  :ozwomp:  :ozwomp:

I love this topic so much. Honestly, I feel like a total sleeper agent when it comes to The Sims. I wasn’t super deep into it until The Sims 3, but when 4 dropped? Ohhh, it got me good. Capitalism definitely got its kiss for me because somehow I own all the packs. I don’t even know how it happened. What’s funny is I don’t even play in the “typical” Sims way. I’m not out here doing legacy families, self-inserts, or living my dream crush romance. Nah — I went full chaotic worldbuilder. I’ve basically made a whole universe over a 5 year save that’s way too big for me to manage, but at the same time it’s something I’m weirdly proud of.

The height of my hyper fixation was definitely during the pandemic. I sank so many hours into it. I never stick to just one Sim through their life; instead I weave together all these community storylines. Like, I’ll have one Sim’s story collide with another’s, or groups of them end up intertwined in wild ways. Get Together is hands-down my most used pack because I basically turned Clubs into my own glue that holds everything together. I’ve got clubs for everything — vampires, mermaids, nudists, spellcasters, a mafia, celebs, you name it. There’s always a club, and always a spot for them to meet up, lmao. And of course, mods are my lifeline. At this point, I don’t even know what vanilla Sims 4 would feel like anymore.

So what does my world look like? It’s kind of a mashup of everything: celebrity Sims I find on the Gallery, archetypes, fictional characters I love, and of course people I know in real life. I’ve recreated basically everyone I know and given them a life in my save. I’ll admit, I’m a little kinder to the people I care about, but otherwise I let the chaos of autonomy take the wheel.

One of my all-time favorite storylines was with my Lana Del Rey Sim. I made her the proud owner of a residential rental trailer park (because, why not?). I had Amy Winehouse and one of my random townies living there, too. One night during a bonfire, Jesus Christ (yes, JC himself, aka the local “gardening” dealer) showed up and made a deal with one of the tenants. Apparently business was booming because he stuck around — so much so that I moved him into one of Lana’s trailers. Word spread that the park was the place to be, and Lana teamed up with JC to renovate all the trailers into cute little tiny homes. It was like this hilarious, messy rags-to-riches storyline that I somehow felt I should focus on.

Meanwhile, Amy was thriving because JC was lowering the bills. She poured her energy into her music career, gigging mostly at the local vampire bar (naturally). That’s where she befriended Vlad (iykyk)… which, of course, led to them having a kid. And that kid? They’re now the founder of my Generations Challenge save. Like, what even is my game at this point?

I could go on forever with these stories, but that one always stands out. Honestly, The Sims (besides Pokémon) has probably given me the most joy of any game, and it just keeps delivering.
