hi melonland forums! my name is vale [or just mipy] 

im 16 and i go by it/its + shi/hir pronouns

generally im just here to talk about my characters and share my art along with developing my personal neocities to a semi comprehensible state [ there isnt even enough done to give like, a basic link because itd just be a blank page or full of placeholders lmao ]

i really like horror/horror adjacent stuff [ mainly webseries / web projects / args like the walten files, scp, the backrooms, and stuff that the youtuber vibingleaf makes , or horror games like fnaf , spooky's jumpscare mansion , rpgmaker horror stuff , lomando.com [if you count it as a game] and probably a bunch of other things that im forgetting to list

some other stuff that im into includes pokemon , roblox , minecraft , miitopia , webseries like bugbo or punch-punch forever , music like lemon demon and tally hall [ my music taste has been perpetually stuck in 2020 ] , gravity falls , warrior cats[kinda] , object shows etc etc!

overall i feel like im probably gonna post about my stuff way more though since im constantly rotating my ocs in my brain at record speeds and i will maybe sometimes manage to actually draw them once in a blue moon . maybe one day i can even make a webcomic or something . i can and will infodump about them [ although fair warning some of my characters may deal with dark/heavy subject matter or be gory or horror focused and stuff like that! its mostly pretty tame but there are a few oc universes falling under that ] i am Cringe But that makes me Free

Do note that i am autistic so i can struggle with things like tone + special interest / hyperfixation stuff can hit me like a truck and then its all i can think about for the next two weeks

I'd like to interact with people here and stuff! definitely gonna go and figure out my profile settings / customization stuff after this lol

ive been playing minecraft again recently as well and in my most recent world ive been having absolutely insane luck / world generation

i encountered like 4 broken nether portals in a row and literally had to settle down and make a base because i had too much stuff to carry on my own . when i settled down i was right next to a village And another broken nether portal without realizing it . like good lird

Oh my Glob so many! Do you have any particular horror genres you're into? I tend to lean towards '80s horror, existential/eldritch horror, quantum mechanical horror and liminal space horror! I could recommend a bunch of games/movies/books/etc based on your tastes!

honestly id say that im really into eldritch / existential horror and liminal horror but i dont think ive heard of quantum mechanical horror before! that sounds interesting :-0

Yeah it's a subgenre of horror that deals more in quantum physics and anomalies... think like the Cube movies for instance. Or Vivarium (which is arguably also liminal horror aswell!).

Oh my Glob I really do recommend Cube, and its sequels. Very cool movies.

Another movie I'd recommend which is more liminal horror is It Follows. From the start the movie fails to establish any location, any time period or any season - already pretty liminal in nature. The house interiors are all 70s-80s décor, but all the characters have cell phones which don't even look like phones, instead they're all strange, round, text based clam shell shaped flip phones. The TV and photos on the wall are all in black & white. The cars are a mix of vintage and brand new...

Adults are shown in passing throughout the movie, but they don't play any vital roles other than being mimicked by whatever the entity following the main characters is. Characters will swim in an outdoor pool in one scene then be seen wearing winter coats in the next.

Everything is objectively familiar, but confusing when viewed together. All these things can be overlooked by someone invested in the story, but at a subconscious level something feels very WRONG and uncanny.

After the movie you're left with a lingering sense of discomfort... the movie feels nostalgic and familiar but alien and strange. It's definitely a great mix of liminal and existential dread.
