@BlazingCobaltX congratulations! you did it!!

"your certificate"
[close]

one (1) sincere compliment: even if it's "just a mockup", you fully executed the idea! there's the items, they're on the shelves, they're aligned with the image background! this is a great base for you to work from later when you have more time, and there's lots you can do to dress it up now that you have the basics done!
one (1) sincere criticism: you've made more work for yourself than necessary by doing inline styling on every individual image instead of using css! put that in your stylesheet instead!

instead of
Code
<img src="/images/telecaster.jpg" width=100px height=auto>
<img src="/images/surf.jpg" width=100px height=auto>
<img src="/images/daf.jpg" width=100px height=auto>
etc...
in the html, you can put

Code
#shelf img {width:100px;
height:auto;}
to apply width=100px and height=auto to all imgs in the "shelf" div. then you can just put your img srcs in and not bother with the resizing.

also, it seems like i actually know how to do some of the stuff you want to do here with flex boxes and whatnot. if you'd like, i'd be happy to slap together a commented codepen with some more of the things you want, but i know it's also fun to figure out things on your own! (and, as you said, you don't have time at the moment!) (and it's not like i'm an expert or anything haha)

I completed it! I know its a really basic ui, but dangit i like the terminal asthetic!! Also it takes like quite a bit of my file storage for all the images but its worth it ^^ I put it up on my page here and will try to update it in the future

this looks so sick!!! your art is so charming hehe  :grin:

alright, i'm not 100% sure i'm done with this yet but i have papers to work on and an exam next week so i doubt it'll get any more complete within the next ten days  :wink:

here's the prologue for root zero!

despite the short amount of time i spent on it i'm quite happy with the art on the homepage. i think it's charming. in the future i'd like to make an actual music player on-site, styled after a walkman, but for now the youtube link will have to do! i'd also, obviously, like to fully complete the game, lol. i think there's a bit in the interaction at the video store that's poorly structured, and i may want to revisit that too. but i'm overall quite pleased with the result! it's pretty efficient code, if i do say so myself. and i'm very happy with the save/load mechanism, even if it's quite simple.

@tertiaryapocalypse congratsulations! you did it!

one (1) sincere compliment: coding a game yourself is a really impressive thing! you should be so proud of yourself for taking that on and succeeding, especially in such a short span of time. that's very cool!!
one (1) sincere critique: it did take me a minute to figure out that "1. CONTINUE" meant "press 1 to continue" ; i think you should specify that in the "about" section or at the beginning of the game! since it's text-based i assumed it would be like a twine game where i click options to progress and was really perplexed :drat:

I just found this and I really want to participate!!! I likely won't be making a webpage - hopefully either traditional art or pixel art. I tend to want it to be perfect, so doing some bad art is just what I think I need this month  :happy:

So I haven't made much progress with pixel art. But I have been wanting to make my room page on the everyone website. SO, I have badly executed that. Here is the link: https://everyone.melonland.net/muttthecowcat

Sincere compliment: I like the colors; they're calming to me. I also restrained myself from making it too complicated

Critique: Well there's not much there for sure. I think I should probably put something here that I enjoy and that is comforting to give it a roomy feel. I also think I could have kept it more simple/streamlined than what I did. Like for instance, I have no idea what my header font will show up like on different browsers, I probably should have left it the same as the body.

@muttthecowcat doing a totally different thing than the thing you set out to do is very much in the spirit of the thing, i think.  :seal: congrabulation! you did it!

one (1) sincere compliment: that background is REALLY pretty! i usually find animated twinkling backgrounds kind of distracting or eyestrainy, but this one is in fact quite relaxing and pleasant; maybe something about the light low-contrast aspect? i love it.
one (1) sincere critique: your footer isn't centered but the header and text box are!! very displeasing to my eyes on such a small page. :skull:

ah, and re your header font;
Code
font-family:cursive;
displays as comic sans to me. i'm on firefox on windows, for reference. i'm not sure why, since comic sans is notably not cursive, but computers are mysterious beasts like that sometimes...  :defrag:

thanks! i added a dismissable alert to the top of the page, i hope that's sufficient  :ok:

as for you, you're doing great at running this event! the awards and such are all so charming. no critiques on my end :-)

Here's what I've got so far on my website. This has been a passion project for a while so there's not much on the site itself, but I also drew out a map of the terrain and collected all the journal pages that I need to scan and upload onto the files site.

Here's a link:

I was gonna pass this up, but incidentally I stepped up to be a Game Wizard (prefer it over Game Master) for the first time ever for an indie TTRPG. I'd be happy to submit the oneshot game rules sheet I wrote for the first session :]

I present to you my submission, a roughly sewn together and un-peer reviewed 23 page TTRPG hack, downloadable from my Nextcloud or CryptPad linked here: https://sloanevictor.neocities.org/sass

actually ended up making a little pet game ^_^ did this in only bout 2-3hrs

complement: i think my code is not that janky! even used an object for the pet which made me feel like a proper programmer tehe

critique: the interaction is obviously limited so theres not much to do, in future id like to have the interactions in different places if that makes sense

happy october every body! i hope that you had a good time being bad at things. corngrabulations to everybody who participated on making a goal and trying to accomplish it!

@alexela64 and @greyskieshappymind : here are your certificates! you can have 1 compliment and 1 critique prizes (if you want them) once you give those to yourselves!  :evil:

@jack_dawlia and your certificate as well!

one (1) compliment: i like a lot of things about this but here's one: the changing face smilies for the different mood levels is a really good touch! it's small but it feels like it really livens it up a lot more than just having one smile and one frown. very dynamic feeling.
one (1) critique: i feel like the stats and thoughts change a bit too quickly, like as soon as i've read a thought it's changed already. a bit hectic!

and now........ i get a certificate!
Spoiler
[close]

compliment: the success stickers i think really add a bit of charm to the certificates.

critique: i forgot to crosspost this anywhere......... i was mostly thinking of it as a "this forum event" due to the forum gifts aspect, but i think it would've been nice to crosspost on some other places so more people would have a chance to potentially participate.

doing pixel art for the forum gifts was hard.... pixel art is HARD... but i'm glad i tried something new, and i'm glad that folks seemed to have a nice time. i set my expectations at 0, so it was a pleasant surprise that anybody showed up! yippee and hoorah as well. perhaps even huzzah! i think i will probably do it again next year, since i didn't really need to do all that much :P

Thank you for organising this xixxi! :transport: You are more than deserving of your certificate. It was a good way to test how these community events would run on here. As far as I'm concerned, this was a success.

And congrats to everyone who made something. We didn't let our perfectionism get in the way this time. :ok:

If I had to stick to just what I submitted rather than the experience...

Compliment: I made sure everything was organised and looked nice.

Critique: I should've fleshed out the world a bit more, have NPC reactions and tool interactions listed rather than a flowchart that would feel derailed at any point of improvisation.

@greyskieshappymind oops! truly living the sucking-at-things spirit by not replying to this for waaaay long.

compliment: a more fleshed-out version of honey heist is a great idea i think! i personally found the super open-ended nature of the game kind of baffling, especially since the onepageness means it doesn't have play examples or a lot of detail, so i appreciate having more stuff to actually look at hahaha.

critique: this is going to sound a bit facetious and i promise it isn't: it needs more bear pics! the somewhat-janky ink drawings of bears add a lot of handmade charm to the original, and without any kind of fun bear pictures this feels quite dry.

hope your october is going well! sorry for the tardiness.
