small update before i head to sleep..
i fixed some stuff up with the animation mode, onionskin now stays on after quitting preview and the static canvas stays on frame 1 when switching to animating, frame 1 also stays on the static canvas when switching back.
i fixed up fetching the latest content for the right sidebar and now it displays correctly on all pages.
but also now theres a bug where you can not undo at all after quitting preview in the post it animation mode, u have to go to static and back to animating (ill fix it tomorrow :dive:)

This is so cool!! How long have you been making sites and coding to be able to come up with something like the post-it doodles? It's so neat!!

Also the aesthetic kind of reminds me of a video game called Omori. Not sure if you've heard of it, but it was a...traumatic game that I enjoyed, I'll say.  :seal:

ive been learning basic python on my own since i was around 12 i wanna say. at ~14 i got into this it focused school where ive been learning more advanced programming (mostly java and c#) and stuff, thats also around when i started making sites (though mostly basic plain html+css+js stuff). now i mostly do python stuff at work but i have a lot of freedom to try out whatever i wanna do/work with :) web stuff ive mostly been learning on my own ever since i started really really enjoying webdev early at school :D

i do know omori!! i love the game a lot. cant say ive been directly inspired but wont deny that it subconsciously stuck with me and i probably channeled some of the aesthetic into the site :p

Hi,

hey, the drawing is just drawing in a html canvas (theres a bunch of tutorials/examples online you can look up) with interpolation so its smooth when drawing fast too. after youre done drawing the canvas gets turned to a data url and gets sent to a cms along with the author, comment and the position of where you clicked on the canvas initially. in the cms i can take a look at the doodle and set it to "approved" which is just a boolean with false on default. the board fetches all approved doodles and puts them on the board depending on the coordinates. they are basically just divs with a sticky note background.  :4u:

for the animating stuff its the same concept except 2 images which are used to generate a gif. i use the gifshot library for this. the undo stuff is kinda wonky cause i didnt know how best to do it, basically i save states of the drawing after finishing a stroke and put them in an undo stack rn.
