Currently, I kind of just wear whatever I find at Goodwill, which usually winds up being ill-fitting polos and jeans. I do want to redo my wardrobe soon, though, and I'm currently eyeing the 'retro-future/2000s' shtick which seems to be popular even among the mainstream. That, or, like, half of the things at Zumiez. If only I had more money...

it really depends on whether i'm masc or fem that day, but since it's summer i'm fem. thank god. anyways

it's masc winter, everynyan.
okay. i was gonna talk about how i like to be as versatile as posible in my gender presentation aka being fem as as hell one day and then masc the next day but then i got tired before i even hit one paragraph. and also because i was mentioning a lot of insa/tiktok stuff no one on an indie web forum would get, so!

i'm done being fem for the hot months and now i'm this, ok? i love colorful, ness.

I definitely would say that I have a mismatched fashion sense too :cheerR: I typically gravitate towards darker + muted colors with the exception of reds. I'm autistic so I typically wear cotton or other soft sensory safe clothing. I have a few black baggy hoodies and a cloak I wear when it gets cold https://i.postimg.cc/MKG30Hpk/IMG_3895.gif (^人^) https://i.postimg.cc/MKG30Hpk/IMG_3895.gif

I feel like my style is a perfect blend of twee, emo, and whimsigoth... (*´_ゝ`) erm here's an example pic :ha:

I really enjoy stripes and skulls, and denim in small doses (I have an ankle-length denim skirt that I love to pair with cute 'whimsigoth' or style tops). although nowadays I mainly dress for comfort and temperature since I have an energetic shepsky rescue puppy, she keeps me active in between school work + art lol (* ̄▽ ̄)b

I mostly just value comfort over fashion (i don't really care that much to impress random strangers at walmart with my stylishness) but my style is pretty grunge-esque...fitting i guess since i'm from washington and we literally INVENTED the style. I'm sorta grunge/skater mixed with softgirl

I wear a lot of sweaters, hoodies, graphic t-shirts, flared jeans, cargo pants, etc. I also look pretty good in button-down shirts, i do admit.

I enjoy wearing sweaters, cardigans, comfy pants that I wear high-waisted, and socks. All of them in black, of course. In the future, I may thrift some more dress pants, boots, and loafers, as I intend to dress in casual vintage clothing for the time being. I'm considering purchasing some accessories that can look more gothic, so I can also showcase that side of myself. I also bought a cheap latex mask + a wig to dress as my fursona, and once it's fully assembled, I may wear the mask/"fursuit head" as often as I'm able as a regular part of my staple. Fundamentally, I prefer to dress casually vintage with some gothic undertones, and indulge in my furry side.

most of my clothes come from thrift stores and depop. ever since middle school, ive pretty much only ever worn all black. ive recently been pretty into emo music and fashion again, i decided to bring back my swoopy layered bangs and ive been on the hunt for my favorite pair of ripped jeans that i havent seen in like 5 years ever since.

i mostly wear band tees and hoodies, baggy jeans, leggings, and skirts whenever im feeling confident. i wear dresses sometimes in the summer, i like floral printed ones a lot!! i dont own very many skirts or dresses, but id love to have a few more and wear them more often.

i dont really have an established style, most of the time i go for comfort over cute.

id love to wear gothic lolita fashion, but its all so expensive!!! one day when i have the money, id love to be a gothic lolita   :loved:

I'd say my sense of fashion is comfort over style. There are plenty of pieces that'll be timeless, like t-shirts and jeans, but more than anything, I'm most concerned about how my clothes fit. I'm an overweight guy, and I see a lot of overweight guys who wear stuff that's too tight and doesn't fit them well. But more than that, the best thing one can do for their sense of fashion isn't in the clothes they wear, but the body that wears them.

Famous fashion designer Rick Owens had a great quote on it:

“Working out is modern couture. No outfit is going to make you look or feel as good as having a fit body. Buy less clothing and go to the gym instead.”

Also as a disclaimer, I'm in no way being fat-phobic with my statement. If you interpret it that way, that's on you.

my fashion sense regarding tops is pretty simple. if it has the little twin stars on it, there’s a good chance i’ll wear it. ever since i found out about them through t-shirt listings on depop, it was love at first sight. i’ve got quite a good amount right now

aside from that, i’m also a fan of schoolgirl skirts and cute boots. i’ve noticed that ankle or mid-calf boots look better with said skirts than knee-high. but i’m not picky

Good timing for me to see this thread, I just finished working on a shirt.

I don't know if I have an easily definable fashion sense. I wear a lot of black and red because they are my favorite colors. I like to wear some silver metal to match my facial piercings, I have a silver carabiner and silver chain from home depot I put on my belt loops. I like to get my clothes from the thrift or trade with friends and modify them as I am able. I have two scrap bins, a sewing bin, and a few other supplies to work with. I think it's a lot of fun and more people should try it. Playing a part in making your clothes feel like they suit you is very affirming in my opinion.

I am attaching a quick picture of the shirt I was working on, there's still white charcoal marks on it from outlining. I got some fabric paint and wanted to test it out. The design is inspired by subtle top surgery accent tattoos. I also have a cropped cat print jacket I'm going to put spikes on (and maybe paint?) and a black denim jacket I'm making patches for. A local artist gave me a patch for her band for it last week.

@infernal.serval that shirt looks so sick!! love when people alter their own clothes; it's something i'm really trying to get into myself, even if i'm still a relatively amateur seamster  :ok:

also, i actually recently wrote down a bunch of my style influences, so this is quite the time for me to chime in as well!

first off, 80s new wave is my favourite music genre, and also a huuuge inspiration for my style. it's like goth's quirky, colourful cousin, and its love of accessories and androgyny. strawberry switchblade, lene lovich, cindy lauper, certain bowie eras, whatever the hell is going on in this talking heads shoot...
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/d3/ef/20/d3ef20a01a130a3685e3500c50e23be3.jpg

i also quite like some 60s movements, particularly mod and medieval revival. i have a dress from somewhere in the 1968-1970 period that has that straight, boxy cut and it's both colourful and feminine but also simultaneously genderless, which i really enjoy! great for simple form and fun colour. medieval revival is similarly colourful, but its shapes are a lot more, well, medieval and flowy and whimsical. always keeping an eye out on my thrifting adventures for stuff that reminds me of acts like sunforest and the fool (the latter pictured below). i guess flower child imagery also fits into these sometimes? which i also quite like and keep an eye out for.
https://i.pinimg.com/1200x/ce/8b/b7/ce8bb7f5043c6adc96e0f94ebb336cb1.jpg

besides that, some other influences are grandmacore, with its cozy sweaters, cute patterns, and comfortable gowns and skirts, for days where i don't have anything big planned, and mori kei, with its earthy tones and plentiful layering. and of course, while i try not to put too much stock into the microtrends of the hour, i find that whimsigoth has a lot in common with what i like about medieval revival and new wave, and its recurring celestial themes and flowy silhouettes also really appeal to me.

... i've really enjoyed developing a personal style over the years, if that wasn't obvious hehe. i think finding clothes that felt affirming to my aesthetics, values/interests, and most of all, my gender, has been a really fulfilling venture! especially considering the vast majority of my wardrobe is secondhand, a mix of thrift finds and hand-me-downs. i've actually been thinking of getting a lookbook up on my website...
