Sigh... okay I'm bored so let's go.
Twitter: I used to have a Twitter account to look at and follow artists whose works I enjoyed. Also the petty drama within the art community used to serve as entertainment. I eventually abandoned it in 2023-2024-ish because goddamn, that place is MISERABLE.
Instagram: I download Instagram on my phone once every three-ish months to post pictures to some friends on a private account; said friends are the only reason I have Instagram because I don't have their numbers or anything. I stopped using it for anything else a year ago because I got sick of the pointlessness of it. Also because Meta is scummy and Instagram's userbase is a wretched, foul thing.
TikTok: Sigh... I used TikTok a lot during COVID-19 when I had nothing else to do. I'm not proud of it, but TikTok felt like another Tumblr or AO3 to tween-aged me; fandom-y and filled with cool-looking outcasts, if that makes sense. I also used it as a news source... I eventually began to get sick of using it as I got older since I had better things to do with my life and kept getting angry whenever I'd remember the hours I'd lost to doomscrolling away, and the lack of catharsis I felt after scrolling, and the hopelessness I'd feel, and the growing toxicity of its userbase. I saw
Superman (2025) in theaters a year ago and felt inspired enough to free myself from both it and Instagram. My only regret is that I didn't delete it sooner.
Tumblr: TUMBLR... :'( Our relationship didn't work out in the end. I was a Tumblr fiend when I was a tween; I remember browsing it for hours upon hours reading writing prompts (mostly hero x villain to insert my OCs in stories... and whump, for some reason??) that were in like, a sixteen-part series and fan-fiction, of course. The stuff in my Tumblr Likes stays between me and any omnipresent deities.
I remember my Tumblr usage slowly turned into me using it purely for website assets and webmastery tips when I was fifteen. I would just click around, looking for fun-looking stamps, blinkies, buttons, patterns, or other files and then right-click + save everything to a folder on my computer. What a time... Never posted anything because I was too shy though. RIP. </3
Pinterest: I used to use it for drawing references, profile pictures, and phone wallpapers. I also used to use it to assist with worldbuilding; sometimes I had certain 'vibes' in my head for aspects of a story I couldn't really articulate, so I used Pinterest boards to get a better idea. Also to help with character living spaces and outfits... My room has looked like an asylum for as long as I can remember and I have a horrible fashion sense. I don't use Pinterest for much beyond looking through old boards and searching for profile pictures now; feels too aimless, I suppose. ',:/
I only really use Discord (because my friends have Discord) and YouTube to listen to music and play Vinesauce VODs in the background exclusively on my computer with the Recommendations page, YouTube Shorts, and ads removed via Firefox extensions. I found them annoying to look at.
