Post animated short movies here!

Earlier, I just watched a Canadian animated short with my dad, called “Blackberry Subway Jam”. It’s about a boy who finds out that the house that he and his mother lived in was built nearby a subway station, which let the train passengers into entering their house and hijinks ensue.

With that absurd premise for a short film, coupled with an artstyle that reminds me of old children books, it led me into thinking: Does anyone here in the Melonland forum want to share other interesting animated short movies like this? If so, let me know and give me a link to those below!

BOLAVLK/WEREAWOLF over on youtube really resonates with me, it's one of my absolute favorite animated shorts. Though this comes with the warning that it does deal with some heavy and mature topics (hopefully it's fine to post here?)

Overall I find it a really cathartic and intense work of art!

I was obsessed with that Sandman short as a kid... I have a very powerfully nostalgic memory associated with it...

It was a Friday night, I was 9 years old and the rain was tapping on my bedroom window. I was playing through Sonic 2 (the 8-bit Master System version) and was at that part in Aqua Lake Zone Act 2 where you have to use the bubble to make your way upwards avoiding the Zaririn (cray-fish badniks) and spikes:



I remember wanting to take a break, so I paused the game and changed the channel only to find the beginning of a creepy stop motion that at the time, my child brain lacking any nuance and frame of reference, mistook for a Tim Burton short. It was the Sandman. I watched the entire thing, enthralled from start to finish - I remember as the short ended I felt extreme horror and anxiety and suddenly the darkness in my room felt suffocating. But despite the fear, I felt a sense of excitement that I'd found something so cool and macabre - I was very spooky child so the aesthetic of the short suited my tastes. It would be years before I found out any actual info on it and was able to re-watch it again... but I still give it a watch every now and then! Great little short.

This is one of my favorite shorts that my friends got a chance to work on for their senior animation thesis. I still watch it all the time. It's a gay breakup with a lot of television references.

summary - an art college film, in which a worker at a permanently closing record shop argues with a snobby customer over music genres

summary - one of the finished shorts from the cartoonstitute, in which a trio of dogs struggle to make it to a club for their performance

dead end - victoria vincent

summary - one of the many shorts vewn has done, in which a cynical school counselor with a gambling addiction talks with an equally cynical high schooler. unfortunately it has been automatically age-restricted

I am gonna just throw this Planet Kate post here - one of my favorite animated shorts that never went further than the pilot and sooooo worth watching!

         Oh boy it's my favourite pilot that never got to be a full cartoon!!! It oddly became a strong inspiration for my main world and had a few dreams about it. I LOVE music-themed cartoons  it's too bad they are inherently expensive and the suits hate that

As for short movie recs, this is my favourite one so far, The Goddess of Everything Else. Love me a good philosophical tale, and it has a great visual design to go along with it, too.

I looove Bolavlk/werewolf, such a great short. It perfectly encapsulates a certain era of dA, good and bad.
I also love that Sandman short! It changed my brain from the first time I saw it on mtv or something eons ago. Ever since then, every time I saw that puffs tissue commercial with that vaguely similar style it would haunt me. I remembered it for a very long time without being able to see it again until recently and I'm so happy to have found it again because it really is an excellent short.


I wonder how short a short has to be! Some of these are ~30mins haha.

i'm getting deja vu, but don't see myself in this thread.... so i'm posting molly star racer.... it was originally an original short film, but when it got popular, the creators wanted to make a show and used it as a pilot/proof of concept to get funding..... ahhh sso cools
