I used the Neocities editor for a while, but I got sick of having to clear my cache all the time to see things update properly while working on them, so I switched to using VSCode.

Who here has a /uses page? I love snooping around other people’s setups.

That's a cool page! I have something like that too if you're interested. I might have to update it to include my hardware now.

Thank you! I (someone who also uses Arch on occasion) was admiring your page the other day. I admire the strength of your conviction in software choices!

While looking for a program, I didn't find anything like Sublime or Atom really good for me, so I just went and used notepad++ and all. Already used that editor as my main text editor so I really didn't have to change much about the way I used the program.
Other programs I've tried were Brackets, which I've found unintuitive, or just average notepad which worked well for the tutorials I had to look at but I didn't want to have too many instances of it running. So notepad++ is the one I definitely recommend over every single one.

ive never been a hardcore vim/emacs type though people do love all those features. i used sublime then atom and now vscode. i have to admit it is pretty nice to do ""professional"" web dev in, with the devcontainer setup and all. but i also like it's defaults for when i open a random folder of html files like my personal website.

I just use the neocities editor, I don’t really need any fancy apps or anything. I do have one website I use to make it a little easier. It’s a visual editor (Idk what the word for it is) in the browser that updates whenever you add something. It’s very useful!

notepad++ or bust baybee

I mostly find the workspace overview handy to keep track of different pages/files and such. It's probably in other editors but Notepad++ is Nice And Easy with just enough features so there's no reason for me to switch to something else.

I use Vim for everything. I also have my own static site generator, but that was made in Vim too.

Similar to Isopod, I used the Neocities Editor before switching to VSCode because the cache issues annoyed me. I have been enjoying using VSCode the most so far. I've also tried Atom, but didn't find it very intuitive for a newbie like me. I also sometimes use NotePad++, but not for my website, mostly for coding in BBCode. :pc:

Also a VS Code user. I used Notepad++ before but then I learned of VS code in a class I took and just found it incredibly useful ever since.

I used to code it on my browser while on neocities since their editor is more than fine (and actually has nice themes!), but after moving to a different kind of host I started editing everything through Kate, KDE's official editor, and I like it very much.

Honestly you can use whatever you feel comfortable with. I personally use GNU Emacs sometimes, or Mousepad, which comes with the LXQt desktop environment. Anything that has syntax highlighting is nice.
