not languages, but text/code editors! Brackets? NOTEPAD:dunno: do you skip all of that and use a website generator? personally, i found Brackets and Notepad++ very useful, but i like to make pages directly in the neocities editor. this comes with the downside of my WIP pages being broadcasted on the neocities activity page! :drat:

so, what do YOU use to code websites?

Unless I need a tool (like 'find and replace', I admittedly edit directly in the Neocities editor, lol. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Iv used a bunch over the years, at the moment I use Nova! Partly because it looks cool but also because it has a built in WebDAV publishing feature that tracks your changes and pushes them to neocities from within the program, its SUPER HANDY.

The main things I look for in an editor: Easy publishing to my host; auto complete of HTML, CSS and JS; A built in colour picker for CSS; built in HTML and CSS validators; reliable local preview system; themes I like; a good file manager and an interface that's not too confusing or slow.

If I was to pick a free editor though Id use VSCode; it does almost all those things, its just lacking webdav publishing and the interface is a bit confusing.

I almost exclusively use the Neocities editor and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

ive been using Brackets as it was the first thing I saw recommended for coding. its simple and straight to the point! but i may have to try some of those other ones, Nova certainly sounds useful but it seems to be mac only... would like to use an editor that can publish straight to the host..

I use VSCode as well. It has actually become the standard tool where I work. There's a lot of love for Atom here, but I found it a bit slow in comparison.

In the before-fore-times, I used Notepad and Notepad++.

You must be a masochist

I had to use Emacs in my C++ programming course, but it was not a pleasant experience.

I use Sublime Text, and I'm probably the only one in the world who does. I like the color coding more than other editors for some reason, and it's got a few features like saving on exit and multi copy/pasting that I really love.

I was a long time Sublime Text user, but eventually moved to VSCode to be consistent with the rest of my team at work. Both are such good bits of software. I can’t remember the last time I’ve used a colour scheme other than Monokai.

Who here has a /uses page? I love snooping around other people’s setups. The blog Uses This is great for that.
