"How do you eat an elephant? You take it one bite at a time." Yeah, but what about taking those bites? What if you're not hungry?

As someone who never heard of this phrase before, it gives the same energy as “How to put a giraffe into a fridge”, it just sounds hilarious. I wouldn’t see it as a advice if I heard it in real life, like no way I could finish an entire elephant before it starts to rot!

——

For me, it is “If you can’t change the world, change yourself”. While it has a message for arrogant people to not expect the world to move around them, as a kid who was mistreated a lot, when someone tells me this, it only came off as “Suck it up, the only way we will stop treating you like shit is to be a ‘normal’ human being and blend in”. Its like they are blaming me for being builled :(

"Omg, we're cooked dawg"
"Bro is actually ____"
"What is bro doing"
"Enhanced with AI"
"Learn to take a joke"
"I aint reading all that"
"So you think that people should do this terrible thing? (the thing isnt terrible theyre just misinformed)"
"Thats so cringe"
Ending the sentence with "chat"
Bot comments saying "jesus loves you" or "dead internet theory" or "i found this book that improved my life" for no reason

but after seeing one too many people use it to justify watching propaganda film slop like the new Top Gun or like
Don't diss the new Top Gun movie I actually liked that movie. its not like im gonna be all pro military and getting yvan eht nioj'd into the military.

"I aint reading all that"

This one is really really bad. It discourages meaningful in-depth discussion and is also just extremely unfunny. That and "yap" or whatever people say now. It's so obnoxious that I don't really want to talk with people who genuinely say these kinds of things.

@killerscreen I hate the yap thing too! Cant even go on passionately about something without it being considered "too much". You can only act like a tiktok hood irony person if you wanna get friends these days

Yeah...as someone who loves to talk passionately about stuff when I'm around people that I trust, it's super disheartening to even see it happen to other people let alone myself. Maybe I'm being too cranky and too much of a "rahh this new generation" person, but I feel like phrases like that just contribute to the sort of super-fast super-brief culture I see everywhere. Now it feels like you'll get socially ostracized if you have any deeper thoughts that aren't just "yeah fr  :skull:  :skull: ".

"what is bro saying" in this context is also annoying for the same reasons (though I don't mind it when it's done in good spirits)

Not really a "phrase" per se, but I don't like it when people pepper with " :3 " their speeches. "Owospeak" in general, as well as other kinds of "cutesy" online slang such as "everypony". Sounds incredibly grating and condescending to me, as if I was being baby-talked by a complete stranger. I wouldn't let a person I know talk to me like that, either.
