Finished Dread Delusion and I'm just so in love with the game

The combat is kinda not the best, but the aesthetic and the story makes you feel like you are playing this doomed heroine in a dying world. Your actions have consequences but there isn't like one right choice, it's all up to you what you decide the better choice is.
and every character you meet is so interesting, like they are just people trying to cope with how they are living through the death of their world and everything they know, it's soo coool. also the magic and how gods and religion is portrayed in the game genuinely is sooo freaking cool i'm genuinely obsessed with the game. If you haven't played it, you should def give it a go

So for the peeps who played it, i been trying to find more games/books/shows that have the same vibes of a dying world and tragic characters and so on. heard someone recommend reading The Shadow of The Torturer by Gene Wolfe and i did, and while i kinda can see the appeal, the book's portrayal of women just turned me off so much from continuing the series :drat: .

Aesthetic, mood and gameplay wise; I would highly recommend checking out Lunacid! It's a very atmospheric RPG in the same vein as the Kings Field games. Kira, the primary developer of Lunacid, also worked on Dread Delusion, having implemented some of the combat mechanics if I recall correctly. Though I will say that Lunacid's combat is much more refined as gameplay takes the focus. Lunacid does not have as directly involved a story and opts for lore-building via item descriptions, books and the occasional vague NPC dialogue.

I'll be honest, I played Lunacid before DD and because of it, came in with too high of an expectation. I didn't get very far before dropping DD completely :/

Lore wise; Morrowind. No seriously! You wont find another game as alien as the world Morrowind presents. It's so steeped in its own history and world-building that you will really have to read all the in-game books to make any sense of it.

I get it to be honest, DD combat is kinda...very bad lol :drat:  but tbh you get to a certain point in the game where you can just drop the combat entirely and just focus on the story.

i heard some people call DD a morrowind inspired game and i guess yeah it makes sense that the story of morrowind would be really good. i guess i never got into it just cause of procrastination lol  but ok, i gotta stop being lazy and actually start it  :wizard:
