Lately with the news of the shut down of multiverse by WB made me remember they own the rights to the game Primal rage, this lead wildly off course to a train of thought that got me wondering what a remaster/remake of that game would be like. This in turn got me thinking What game/games would I want to be remastered/remade/ have a legal version for modren systems for.  The Answer for me is EVO Search For Eden. A strange action rpg for the snes that takes a super lose look into the world of per history.

As a lad who was crazy about dinosaurs this game always sparked my imagination. No game to this game has goten its vibe and off beat style right. Sadly the games charm wears thin as it become a chore to play with its grinding tedium.

While The game its self is already a pseudo remake of a even weirder pc 98 rpg. I feel like a remake with modern controls and difficulty curve would be nice. Maybe add in the space aliens and fighting the devil stuff form the pc 98 in there as well.

Right now *the* game I think really needs a modern remaster/remake is Dragon Quest 9. I'm playing thru the game right now on DS and it would benefit so much from being on modern consoles. If u don't know DQ9 is a rather large JRPG on the DS but being the first Dragon Quest game on a console with wi-fi connectivity it had a lot of connectivity features. You could share randomly generated dungeons with other players, you could connect to other players and join their party in their game, you could connect to Wi-Fi to access an online-only shop with a rotating selection of items, usually based on holidays or such, and depending on what days you connected online certain characters from past DQ games could visit you and give you special armor based on their outfit... Obviously most of these features are now dead on an official scale, though you can connect to a fan server and enjoy *some* online connectivity, as long as you're willing to connect to an unguarded Wi-Fi network since DS can only connect to wifi networks with no passwords :drat:
DQ9 is also like, pushing the DS to its furthest limits. The game uses a mix of 3D models and sprites for its characters, with more minor characters being sprites bc your party of 4 fully modeled party members is enough to make the game chug if they're all on screen at the same time. I personally think the mix of sprited/modeled characters is really cute but it's still a product of the game being on such a lightweight console... In an ideal world I think Dragon Quest 9 would get a multiplatform, modern remake to both give its online functionalities a second chance at life and to recreate the game's visual assets on game consoles with more horsepower on them. I'm pretty meh on JRPG remakes overall but DQ9 is one that would get soooo much mileage out of one, and since Square Enix is so eager to remake every other DQ game I rly hope it happens soon  :ozwomp:

Yeah having a remake would be magical as it gives me a reason to finally beat that game lol. Speaking of DQ games we could maybe get ports of the Dq monster games in a collection would be nice.

I don't know it its really a remake, probably more a remaster, but I would pay a hefty sum to get Bloodborne on PC at 60fps... Its been almost a decade and they seem to want to remake literally every game they own to release on PC besides Bloodborne :ohdear:

I've never gotten to finish Bloodborne, so I would love to be able to do it on PC, I just cant bring myself to dust off my PS4 and only be able to play it at 30FPS :p

I'll be honest, the only game I really wanted to get remade that I can think of at the moment was Paper Mario TTYD, and well... that actually happened. So that is pretty darned cool.

My absolute dream would be to see a remake of Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility, and Animal Parade, that combined the best of both games together. Since I doubt that will ever happen, I'd be happy with a remaster of both.

I'd also LOVE to see a remaster of the Sims 2: Castaway. It was such a fun game, and it'd be fantastic if I could play it on PC, with higher furniture limits, and maybe a little update on the graphics.  :chef:

I usually enjoy ports way more than remakes/remasters (partly because I want to experience a game like how the first players did, partly because my poor laptop can’t handle anything beyond ps2 level graphics :P ) But I do have one wish…!

That is Dark Souls. There’s already a remaster, so this is unlikely, but there’s so much that I could see improved that I can’t help but think about the possibility. For me, it’s still very great as is, but the jank is seriously undeniable.

There’s lots of technical stuff that could use some fixing, hitboxes are a big one, along other things that I’m not enough of video games expert to explain. However the thing I really wanted to see was a better execution in level design! The second half of the game is quite infamous for how rushed and unfinished it was for the sake of meeting a schedule. There’s this whole area that is so bad that it makes even the most hardcore players loathe it. Really, my wish is just a “what if they had more time”, which is a thing I feel about many games.

Well, when I am liking the game, I'd rather see its sequel, than remake.

i think for me, it might be Project DIVA 2nd, maybe. or it would more likely be Kirby Air Ride.

edit: Project DIVA 2nd mostly swapping out the textures for slightly higher-res ones, if at all. and slightly up the polygon count on the models - mostly the characters' sleeves/weird arm things, those are literal hexagons! same with some background elements. many are usually just really low-res planes that could do with a bit of a remake, make them 512px or something, and maybe have an option to replace them all with 3D models?

Kirby Air Ride could benefit with slightly better physics (by that i mostly just mean better hitboxes for the environment) and slightly refined controls? plus slightly up the resolution of the textures, but not to something ridiculous like 4K, more just do it smartly and tile the textures, maybe?
the models are fine i think, especially if it were to be ported to PC or something. that'd be really fun to have running in OpenGL and/or DirectX 9 or something. but also please don't remake it in Unity or Unreal!!!

i guess, Kirby Planet Robobot and many other 3DS games would look lovely on the Wii or even Wii U/Switch.

also, not exactly a remake/remaster, but the Hoyoverse games i feel would be absolutely fantastic if they didn't have the gacha element.
as in maybe a ROMhack/mod or even a fan-made remake? and rebalance the whole game? that'd be absolutely wonderful!!
Genshin already looks beautiful, Zenless plays really well and i love the overall vibe of it, etc. i just wish there'd be at least a mod or a ROMhack of those to remove the gacha elements and rebalance the game? :3

also, many of those 2D games - like early Taiko no Tatsujin, Chuchu Rocket, Sega Swirl, LocoRoco, Patapon, etc - i think they'd be amazing if upscaled well! especially the PSP games (like Patapon and LocoRoco) are usually made for it's even lower resolution (272p) unlike the home consoles (which had ~480p)
replacing their textures, sprites, etc with SVGs was one of my ideas for them, maybe since the games themselves are already really nice-looking, so they'd probably more benefit from making them infinitely upscalable? hehe...

for the record, i'm only really thinking in a way that doesn't need a NASA-equivalent PC to run on? mostly since i love more medium-poly games with tricks to get it to look nice, so i really don't see a need for the minimum specs to be something absolutely ridiculous like an RTX 2060 or something and a modern i7 and 16GB RAM.
some of these could realistically run on a Core 2 Duo, or even a Pentium 4 if done well enough. some of these could have a 32-bit version, which at that point would support those processors, but also a 64-bit version for more modern hardware? it doesn't need an engine like Unreal or Unity, it could use Raylib for all i know! lol
sorry for ranting a bit, i just have pretty strong opinions on the lack of optimisation! just some thoughts though :3

Personally I would love to see a remake of Earthbound in the vein of something like Super Mario RPG's remake, it'd be perfect to just see it in 3D with all of the charm kept. Bonus points if it goes for a yarn look kinda like some concept art for a potential remake that was floated around back during the gamecube era.

There are mockups online for that on youtube, and I think there is a fan remake of Mother 1 in the works.

Most of the older games I'm interested in, I'm either satisfied with how they run on emulators or I find they run just fine thanks to streamlined patching processes (like OG Fallout). I'm also trying to expand my horizons, fostering a curiosity for the genres I like and seeing what indie devs are publishing these days.

The only game I really want a remake/remaster of is Earthworms just because I know the dev team ran out of budget and couldn't get all the endings they wanted in.

Oh let me enthusiastically recommend it for a second then.
<- play this!!!
The story built around this small town is very interesting from what I remember. The art is great, soundtrack is consistently great, mystery had good hooks and twists, puzzles never felt too obtuse or like roadblocks. Only thing I never figured out was the "happy ending" which I intend to revisit the game to try and get myself, though from what I can see there are Steam guides for it.

i am super happy that i can play the ace attorney series on pc now, so i would love love love if trauma center got the same treatment! i didn't play the wii games, but i adored the first two on the ds when i was a kid. i don't ever see anyone talking about it so i kind of doubt it ever will :(
