I made
a blog about this a few months ago but I figured I'd bring it up here too as it might be interesting to some people here, but specifically, it'd be a horror game made in RPG Maker VX Ace, something I've used before in the past, albeit it was just personal projects that didn't really get released, so I have experience working with it, and using that because I can't code for shit otherwise. :P
Specifically the idea/concept is that you're a cat boy who gets lured and kidnapped by a shady group, who gets taken to a secluded underground lab that does illegal experiments on those inside, but before they can operate on you, one of the other experiments they were working on goes horribly wrong, leading to multiple researchers dying and ultimately leading to the lab getting abandoned and locked down. A few days afterwards the power goes out, leaving just you and any other survivors you might encounter to find a way to escape, while avoiding the various mutated creatures wandering around who will kill you VERY quickly, so either you need to avoid them entirely or find something to defend yourself with (like a knife or a pipe or something).
Gameplay-wise it would mostly be wandering through the corridors, hiding/running from any enemies you see (unless if you have a weapon), finding resources to help you survive/escape (like a map, a flashlight, some rations/first aid kits, the works), potentially recruiting other survivors you find, and trying to find your way out. It's more of a stealth game in regards to enemies, as it's HIGHLY advised to avoid them, as even with a weapon you have to be extremely careful, and forget fighting with your bare hands. I also potentially thought about adding a mechanic where if you end up killing too many creatures you sort of lose your mind and go insane/bloodlusty, but I'd have to see if that would just be annoying to deal with or end up adding to the game.
There's a few mandatory/boss-like encounters too, with particular infected who block your way to a higher floor, the idea I had was less "repeatedly stab them until they die" and more "avoid their attacks and wait for an opening" or "avoid their attacks and deliver a killing strike", if that makes any sense, with the bosses being researchers or survivors who got particularly infected and essentially became killing machines.
Lastly (and the biggest thing for me), I plan to do like... A LOT of art for this, as RPG Maker allows for images to be put into the game as like a cutscene, so I plan to use that to it's fullest, drawing art for encountering a new area, the intro, running into bosses, finding survivors, and ofc the various endings, and so on and so on, feel my art would lend itself well to horror stuff so it'd be an excuse to show it off, don't really get opportunities to draw things like that.
Bit of a long-winded entry but yeah, horror stuff is something I've had a huge interest in the past few years, especially internet/indie horror, and I notice that there's barely any when it comes to furry stuff, most games I see that relate to furry stuff are basically all like, visual novels or dating sims and that's kind of lame (no disrespect to those who make em, I'm just saying), plus wanted to make something horror related for a while, had an idea to do a surreal horror comic for a while but never got around to it, if anyone's interested in THAT I can post it in another comment, but otherwise just respond if you think this sounds cool or interesting. :3
Plus leaving some constructive criticism is ALWAYS welcomed by me, so feel free to leave some of that too.
