How does one re-integrate themselves in the current day "indie-web"?

Hello people! As you can see from the age of my account, I was here from what I remember to be the very early days; I think the forum might have even been in beta (I'm glad to see how it has grown stylistically, it's absolutely stunning). As you can also see, I am not very active unfortunately.

I have found it difficult to pick up from where I left off in around 2022 when it comes to knowing the "indie web" (or old web, which is what always interested me most of all). What would you recommend to help someone understand the current scene? Are there any really good link repositories? I'll take anything!

Thank you so much, I really love this community, although I do worry about how it may have changed since I've been gone... such is nostalgia.

hello and welcome back! 

if you look at my posting history, you'll notice that i have a similar gap in posts to your own: i was pretty absent from melonland from september of 2023 to june of this year.   but i'm happy to be back! melonland forum members are just as welcoming as always and i haven't found it too hard to get back into the swing of things.

big forum features & news since you've been gone:

• the everyone website! - a big collaborative website that eveyone can work on simultaneously
• the surf club e-zine! - guides and tutorials written by melonland members
• the halfmoon art hub! - an art gallery hosted on the forum
• melonland guilds! - small groups with their own collaborative website, forum thread, events lists, and webrings (these are brand new!)
• there's a guild called old web spelunkers that you may be interested in!
• most recent update from Melooon about board organization and plans for the forum

the indie web is so vast! i would say that it's not really one scene, but many different scenes tied loosely together. it's a huge challenge to try to understand the whole thing! especially when many of us are off on our own sites doing our own thing a lot of the time...

some things have changed, but i hope you'll find that the things you love about this community are still here, too. if there are any forum topics from 2022 that you miss, i encourage you to make a new reply and bring them back to life!
