So, I've been fighting a lot of old Ukrainian TV ads from all half-dead corners of the internet - as a part of my weird project.
I wanna make a collection of those with English subs - it really has art value, trust me, old ads in the 90s and early 00s in Ukraine, when it just got its independence and hadn't established its media standards yet - were really creative and unhinged - ABSOLUTE CINEMA lol  :dive:  :dive:  :dive:

Though the question is, do I have a way of hosting these videos somewhere EXCEPT for YouTube (I don't think YouTube is safe for content preservation)? Including that I want to have a way to embed those videos on my personal website too, wanna create this "ads archive page"

I would love to see those  :ozwomp:

I think you can host them as well as a videoplayer on nekoweb and start embedding the .html page from nekoweb on your neocities site as an iframe.  Besides this, most video tube sites offer an embedding feature out of the box. Having them on a webspace that you are in control of as a backup seems reasonable if you want to archive them. You can as well try uploading to archive.org

If you search "video hosting", you'll find an entire thread dedicated to that  https://forum.melonland.net/index.php?topic=3923.0

From the OP

Archive.org might be a good pick; afaik, it allows to embed videos.
PeerTube also allows embedding; I used Dalek.Zone for some of our video uploads.

I actually ended up picking Internet Archive^  :ha:   Cuz it also makes most sence for me to store it there for preservation (like - it is designed for exactly this kind of stuff), and it has easy <iframe> integration   :ozwomp:

So I will report on results of my work soon. Just finished moving heh

Hey! So my archive project is already up  :seal:
I'm doing some huge and cool work there. Brands that I include have snippets of history, some of them have multiple examples of TV ads, and I'm also doing English subs for each video, description, and transcript  :eyes:  :eyes:  :eyes:
I now have 6 entries there, and overall 13 fun obscure clips https://lulilaj.neocities.org/utvarchive I'll be glad if you'll check it out as it is now

Oh, btw, I ended up hosting those on Neocities directly. I upload to the Internet Archive separately, heh. Just *feels* safest to have videos in my website assets, you know
