a wee bit messy but heres my desk setup currently, it's come a long way so im pretty proud of it

https://i.imgur.com/V8XRk7B.jpeg

most of the things in this picture i either haggled off facebook marketplace or ebay, even the computer itself! i think my fav part is how i have a lil easel i found in the garage to hold my drawing pad

@Myrmeform wooaaah mad respect for the art supplies hoard! the bug study ur workin on in this looks super cool.

@foxmosis waa i love all the plants you've got in your desk space! maybe i could get a big floor plant sometime soon.

@Dan Q
lmao wait hold on so is this, 3 different computers in one setup? that's sick as hell. if u dont mind explaining whats the monitor in the wall for? genuinely curious.

@thide those speakers are SOOOOOOOOOO cute its a darn shame the sound quality doesn't match up.

@elliebees
waaa your settups so cute i love your monitor, what kind of stuff do you like listening to on the radio :0 ?

@windit seconding that your writing/zine desk is super cute, it looks so homey, but it's also so functional and organized! don't have the space for a seperate desk for my art crafting but maybe i could find another one like this or modify my current desk so it has some storage like this

Technically four. Windows desktop Rebel, Linux desktop Eye, Mac laptop Fupp, and Mac laptop Mora. And, I suppose, intermittently my Unraid server Fox, but she doesn't often need to be connected to a monitor.

The one of the wall? Sometimes I put a TV show up there while I work. Sometimes I use it to "duplicate" the view of anybody using VR gear in the room. Sometimes I just dump my to-do list up there so I can show off to the house how well (or not) I'm getting through it!

But yeah, it's pretty sick.

Here's a link to a shot of my setup: https://stephvee.ca/uses

I'm really proud of this space. It used to be a closet. My old office was so dark and dreary and didn't get any morning light... The new office, on the other hand, is very warm, bright, and cozy! Very happy with the move!

my desk looks like this. you can't see the powermac g4 quicksilver sitting beneath the desk in this pic but it's there.

I have a Mac Mini M2 Pro as my main computer. my monitor is the same I've been using for many years, bought it second hand in 2012. it's 16:10 which i really like.
this pic is from december and I've since changed the fern to another (nicer looking) plant

It's a bit pathetic, but it wasn't until I was over 42 (I'm 45 now) that I finally got myself a proper office, i.e., one that isn't used for anything else. The living room is elsewhere, as is the dining room and the bedroom. I have an OFFICE! For me, it's the height of luxury. I love it so much that I regularly take photos of it. It's constantly evolving to give me ever easier access to my countless files, cardboard folders, and notebooks.

that looks super cozy!

oh yeah definitely! it took me years to realise my monitor had vesa mount points, so I bought a cheapo monitor arm online and now it's so much better to do work! I always move it forward when doing design work

Here's my updated desk for 2026. I decided to keep the G5 iMac for aesthetic reasons and running old OS9 apps (its also good at streaming internet radio), but I added a more powerful desktop for my regular works. The new computer is a 2013 Trashcan Mac Pro with 12-cores and 64gb of ram! (you can see it behind the screen, its kinda the perfect size, plus it keeps my room warm... would have cost 12,000 euro in 2013!! .. I got it for 300 today   ) - its been a big part of my push to break away from relying on technologies that only work on modern macs because I want to keep it software period accurate to 2014 (this site has been a big help with that)

The desk and my room is still way too small, but this is one of my fav setups in a long time; everything is networked together - the mouse and keyboard move seamlessly from one computer to the other as if it was a screen extension. It's also wired into my stereo so has proper speakers, and its all connected into my file server under the desk!

OH and the new screen is pulling double duty! Its connected to a Wii U under the desk (you can see the sensor bar stuck under the screen) - so it can also play all Wii U, Wii and GameCube games  :innocent: .. if only I ever had time to do that..

@kringle I think we got the same screen  :wizard:  if you're is the 1080p model then it is!

@SadOldMan that is a very un-sad setup!  :ozwomp:

@kringle I think we got the same screen  :wizard:  if you're is the 1080p model then it is!

i had the 1080p for a bit but i upgraded to the 4k cause i was too used to the pixel density on my lenovo p52 laptop, i couldnt take being able to make out the pixels. guy i flipped the 1080 to got a free beetle sticker on the back of the monitor that i'd put there at least LMAO.

also really dig the metal rack you got by your desk! i have one in my room but more as like a quasi roller closet, love those things.

my desk looks like this. you can't see the powermac g4 quicksilver sitting beneath the desk in this pic but it's there.

i love the little painting you have on your desk! such a clean set up but lots of little personal touches. also cant go wrong w/a big ol wood desk

For me, it's the height of luxury. I love it so much that I regularly take photos of it. It's constantly evolving to give me ever easier access to my countless files, cardboard folders, and notebooks.

dude its the height of luxery to me too!! im insanely jealous of your bookcase and how it maches your armchair and ceiling support beam, the vibe is insanely comfy. tho i dont think u should feel pathetic abt how this is your first office. living situations are what they are, there's no shame in them.

whats more important is that you made those spaces yours while u had them!

thanks! my younger brother paints a lot and gifts these small paintings of different landscapes to family members when it's their birthday :)

mannnn, that thrash can is awesome. although I much prefer the 5,1 mac pro that came before it (and it looks aesthetically more pleasing to me because it really fits the era even more), i do like the trash can for its odd shape.
And that G5 iMac, just gorgeous. I've had the Intel version of that design for the longest time on my desk, the last 17 inch imac they ever made, was used daily until 2022 when I bought a newer mac mini. I also ran Mavericks on it with a patcher which worked well enough, the last version it officially supported was Lion.

Been bouncing between two spots lately

Same work, just different vibes. Been dropping by my mate’s cafe too whenever I’m around.

Currently out in a rural area though. What was meant to be a 1-week break somehow turned into 2 months 😄

i love threads like this!!! it's so nice to see other people's workspaces, since they're so personalized by nature, it feels like catching a glimpse into a unique window of someone's life and inner world....  :seal:

my main setup at the moment is really just my laptop, ipad, and art supplies at any coffee shop with big enough tables. i'll sit there for hours chipping away at whichever project, pack it all up at closing, and come back the next day. i enjoy the temporary-ness(?) of it. something about being in a chill public space with music and a fun little drink just creates a very peaceful work environment for me :o)

i do have an at-home setup as well, though i use it more for gaming and drawing than i do things i'd usually do on my laptop. my pc's name is Charlie! he's got a lot of problems but he's my ride or die and i love him!!!!!!!!

My desk is extremely messy but I'm still able to navigate around the
mess
    :pc:

https://u.cubeupload.com/Knotnu/IMG0470.jpeg

Told you!                                           It is very messy

But any ways the ones that are on are my laptop on the bottom and my square monitor above.

The other screen in the right side of the square monitor is my Linux computer and it is a old computer I found while walking around my neigbourhood.

In the middle of the image is my broken drone inside the controller, my motherboard that I took out from a laptop that doesn't work anymore. And a nesting doll that I got from my neighbour after they moved to another house. Which I do miss.

I have a Garmin gps next to my scissors and a yellow cloth over it. I don't really use it for a lot of things except displaying photos while drawing/sketching.

The globe is given to me this year by my cousins because I realized how I normally talked about the world. Which I actually like the material which I think it is marble.

My special
Spoiler
Lamp where I put it close to my head so whenever I stand up, it will collide with my head which is pretty annoying. And let this emoji describe the feeling  :drat:
[close]

I believe that is my current state of my desk. And yes I will clean the desk, just really busy.
