whoa a forum!

Hi there, I'm new around here and finally getting around to this. I'm a Beatles fan so I'm going by the "McCartney" handle at the moment. (I think Paul is neat, he's my favorite Beatle.) I am interested in the DIY web and joined Melonland for the community. I struggle to do things on my lonesome (a common feature for many people I think) so I want friendly people to hang out with while we work on our websites together.

I am a fly-by-night librarian by trade and have always been interested in information It has been 20 years and I still mourn the loss of Netscape Navigator to give you an idea of how long I've been around. My primary interest in making my own website is to control my internet presence and start detaching myself from the unhealthy social media nightmare that has consumed a lot of my life. That may sound heavy but what it really means is I am trying to be more present in my every day life for the sake of my loved ones. I am having good results so far; the important thing is to turn off the smartphone and remember the internet is a tool, not an end unto itself.

I have not updated this in months but now that my IRL responsibilities have become more manageable, this will become more polished.

My interests as a person include books, writing, music, and videogames (though I haven't been playing a lot of the modern stuff lately it is uninteresting to me.) When it comes to pronouns, you can refer to me as anything.

I'm not great at intros so this is where I'll sign off. Sorry that this is choppy but hey, at least it's here.

i completely agree, it's so nice to have a community when you're working on something fun for yourself. it feels like a team effort, makes it all the more exciting, and gives you people to celebrate with as you expand your creations! also, congrats on making the decision to be more present with your loved ones and using the internet as a tool. social media really was designed to remove our focus, it's a hard thing to do and i think that's a really noble and great thing you're doing.

Thank you so much! My favorite album is split between Help! and Rubber Soul, I enjoy their pre-Pepper work the most. Rubber Soul is where they come into themselves but before they got really into production. Help! still feels a lot more experimental and they're testing themselves to see where they go next.

My favorite song oof, there's so many. But I adore "All Together Now"! You're right, there are so many worthy of it that you almost have to switch.

Thank you for your kind words, I'm doing my best! I purchased a little cheap Nokia for a dumbphone and I've been enjoying the time I spend away from my smartphone. Loading it with music is surprisingly easy too. The only thing I need a smartphone for is the maps, I get horribly lost. The other day I tried to get to my dentist's office without it and ended up very late, in the end I had to call my mom to ask for directions... it was so embarrassing aaaahhhh
